Improving Your Home And Garden

18 December 2018 by Eileen

Sometimes a home and garden can need a little pick me up. We don’t realize it until we take a good hard look at our surroundings. A busy lifestyle means we tend to neglect to look after the home and when you’ve lived in your home for a few years, there always tends to be a bit of wear and tear. So here are a few ways of improving your home and garden.

Improving Your Home And Garden

Rearrange Your Furniture

Rearranging your furniture can help with transforming the space if you don’t have the budget. Start going through room by room and visualizing the space in a different form. Move large items of furniture first because this is what will make the biggest impression on the space.

When you’re so used to seeing things in their usual spot for so long, you’ll suddenly see a dramatic change to a space once you’ve switched it up. It’ll make you fall in love with your home all over again.

Let Natural Light Shine In

Natural light is another freebie and a great way of bringing a fresh look into your home. If you have windows that catch a lot of the daylight, remove anything that’s potentially blocking it. Think about switching out heavy curtains and thermal blinds for a material that’s a little lighter like linen or cotton.

Natural light can do wonders for our mood as well so if you don’t have the luxury of natural light, try adding in some artificial lights to compensate. There’s plenty available, and they come in a variety of styles, so that you can place them all over the home.

Declutter And Organise

The main reason for a home looking messy is because you’ve let clutter build up. You’re using your dining room chairs as a place to rest laundry, and your hallway has become a dumping room for receipts and other rubbish. It’s always a good idea to have a spring clean every so often as a lot of us naturally hoard stuff that we really don’t need.

Go through each room with a black bin bag and fill it up with everything you just don’t need. Pop anything sellable into another bag and don’t forget to donate any toys, clothes, and books to charity if you have them.

Keep Your Garden Fuss Free

Not a lot of people spend time on their garden if they’re not gardening fanatics. Therefore, it’s useful to keep your outdoor space fuss-free. Go for plants and flowers that take very little effort and keep grass to a minimum, opting for other materials like gravel and stone.

Adding a water feature or pond is a great thing to have, and https://www.swelluk.com/ sell an array of pond supplies if you’ve got the space and skills to make your own.

Make improving your home and garden a project that you do each season. It’s very exciting when you change up a space, and you’ll end up loving your home even more. Try out some of these tips and see how you get on!
