Last week, it was our last Lichfield Mandarin Club lesson of the year and it was my turn again to take the class on crafts. Besides doing crafts, I also incorporated learning to read and write Chinese characters in the lesson. Last year, we had to cancel the lesson due to heavy snow and I decided to re-use the lesson plan that I had in mind.
This time around, I taught the children to write Merry Christmas in Mandarin (圣诞快乐). If you wish to learn, do download and print the document. After getting the children to practice writing the Chinese characters, we made the Christmas Stocking ornaments.
First, I downloaded the printable from Pinterest, then printed it on A4 coloured 100-gram papers. This is what we used:
- A4 coloured 100-gram papers
- Scissors
- Glue sticks
- Hole punch
- Christmas theme ribbons
- Foam
- Coloured felt pens & pens
Cut out the print, then glue them together. Then punch a hole on the stocking for the ribbons to pass through. Finish off by decorating it. This is a very simple craft that is suitable for all ages. All our children had fun making and learn about it!
