The Summerton Club

17 October 2018 by Eileen

The Summerton Club is your passport to taste the world of hidden rare and unique spirits that you can’t find on a supermarket shelf. They are a craft spirits members club where they curate and deliver only the finest aged alcohol from around the world (brandies, rums, whiskies and more) directly to your door. At £50 per delivery, all you need to do is to choose the frequency for your premium spirits subscription box.

The Summerton Club

Recently, I got in touch with The Summerton Club as Mr C has been trying various whiskeys recently. Mr C is a big fan of spirits and often loves a glass of whisky in the evening to relax. Often, he will try and buy different varieties of whisky when travelling overseas or in the duty-free shop and also from the local supermarket shelf. Through The Summerton Club, they give you an opportunity to try new and truly unique spirits as we will get to try different types of spirits around the world.

This October Bottle of the Month is Mackmyra Gruvguld which is a well aged, limited edition spirit that is not available in the UK. The whisky is very well packed in a padded box and delivered by courier. They also included information on the journey of how Mackmyra Gruvguld is created.

Mackmyra Gruvguld is a Swedish Single Malt whisky

Mackmyra Gruvguld is a Swedish Single Malt whisky that is aged in small casks, 50 metres below ground in the warehouse at Bodas Mine. Its aromatic richness comes from the wide variety of cask types used to mature the whisky, including Oloroso, Bourbon, and Swedish oak. The whisky tastes of oak and spices, with notes of vanilla fudge, pear drop and sandalwood.

All the ingredients are sourced locally, from local barley and bread yeast, to the Swedish peat and juniper branches. They even use local Swedish oak for a number of their barrels, trees planted in the King’s Forest of Visingso, originally destined for future Swedish warships.

Mr C loves the vanilla fudge notes and the spices that invigorate the taste buds. This is a great whiskey as the cold weather draws in.

The choice of this Month bottle has exceeded our expectations and is definitely something we will explore from now onwards. This is a full size 70cl bottle, which means we are also able to invite a few friends over and share this experience together as a fun night in. I love the idea of drinking unique spirits from around the world without leaving your own home and at your own pace.  A subscription to The Summerton Club definitely makes a great gift for a couple or a family!

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
