STEM is so important for everyone because it pervades every part of our lives. We are so lucky to have a better understanding of STEM and have greater opportunities to explore the world than what the older generation had.
We were so excited to have received these STEM activity books from Carlton Books for my children. These four books are STEM Activity: Sensational Science, STEM Activity: Terrific Technology, STEM Activity: Extreme Engineering and STEM Activity: Amazing Maths.
All these books consist of a colourful range of write-in puzzles and activities suitable for aged seven and above. Each features quality and contemporary illustration and graphics, accompanied by easy-to-understand text explaining scientific facts and statistics, and relating them to the real world.
STEM Activity: Sensational Science
There are over 40 activities and puzzles related to atoms, genes, gravity, acids, magnets, and more to do in this book! What I like about this book is that it explains the scientific theories in a very simple form for young children to understand, naming and giving credit to female scientists. Back in the old days, it was difficult for female scientists to get the recognition they deserved, so it is nice to see a book give credit to female role models. It shows that they do care and want to encourage more girls to do STEM and try to inspire them with strong female role models.
My 10 year old son, Mr K enjoys this book very much but he finds it too easy. But on the other hand, my 9 year old daughter, Ms C finds it challenging and fun to do the activities. Inside this book, children also get to complete the electrical circuits, unscramble the renewable energy sources, spot the differences in the space station, test your magnet knowledge, colour in the shapes to reveal the awesome x-ray!
STEM Activity: Terrific Technology
Again this book is packed with over 40 activities and puzzles related to mechanisms, robotics, computers, gadgets, space exploration and more! Children get to match the ancient tool to its modern partner, complete the plastic polymer patterns, metals quiz, water the crops in the irrigation maze, help the plane land at the airport!
STEM Activity: Extreme Engineering
Containing over 40 super-fun activities and puzzles related to engineering, including fantastic forces, extraordinary machines, high-tech buildings, eco-energy, computer coding and more! Children will learn about robots, design their own skyscraper, complete the engineering word search, match the inventor to the innovation, and put the skateboard moves in the right order to create the perfect Ollie!
STEM Activity: Amazing Maths
This book is filled with over 40 activities and puzzles related to cool calculations, super shapes, terrific trigonometry and much more! Find the coordinates on the map, colour in the polygons to reveal the animals, work out the area of the farm, and spot the symmetrical objects.
At the back of each book, they have a quiz to test the little ones to make sure they fully understand the activities. There is also an answer sheet at the back of the book. I would definitely recommend these books to do with your children from aged seven onwards. It will benefit them and they are inexpensive to buy. The activities are simple and fun to do. Children will enjoy these books and pick up the tips. They are available to buy from good bookstores, Amazon and Carlton Books.
