This year, the award-winning Gandey’s Circus brings you the Greatest Showmen Tour to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the creation of the circus. We were thrilled to be invited to see their Special Half-Term Halloween Spooktacular event exclusively at Merry Hill.
If you have missed it, there is another show in Belfast from Friday 23rd November 2018 to Sunday 6th January 2019! For more information, please visit http://www.gandeyscircus.com/tour-dates.html or you can book over the phone 0871 705 5507.
This was not our first time attending Gandey’s Circus and I am pleased that they always have a range of first-class artistes from around the globe doing different types of acts and their content changes from tour to tour. This Greatest Showmen Tour sees the world-class Havana Troupe defy gravity on the gymnastic bars, Las Chicas Morales set hearts pounding on the rolling globes, Jacqui and Brendan dazzle and amaze on the aerial silks, and Gina displays mystical artistry and poise on the low wire.
They put on an entertaining family fun show that wows the audience throughout with their jaw-dropping stunts, stunningly choreographed dance routines, electrifying adrenaline-fuelled excitement of the African Warriors and combined with amazing lighting effects. They also have Europe’s favourite clown Chico Rico cause mayhem and mirth throughout the show before rewarding the appreciative audience with a special surprise. This time around, Ms C got pulled up to go on stage by Chico Rico to perform a hula hoop and good job that she could! She did us proud! It is non-stop action from start to finish! The first half of the show is approximately 45 minutes long followed by a 15 minute interval and then 55 minutes for the second half.
Gandey’s reputation for producing premier circus productions worldwide for nearly 100 years is second to none. These generations-old circus families are continually strengthened by skilled multi-talented professionals from the arts, drama, music and design, all bringing new concepts of presentation to a centuries-old art. We were thoroughly entertained by their outstanding performance and were very impressed with their physical skills.
We all have our favourite acts! Mr K loves the African skipping, Miss C liked the Halloween themed dancing, whilst Mr C and I love Jacqui and Brendan on the aerial silks. It was intense and very moving when they did their stunts very gracefully on the silks to music from The Greatest Showman. We all enjoyed the show and loved that every artiste performed to such a high standard. Check out their next show in Belfast if it is near you!
