How To Improve Your Kitchen On A Budget

11 July 2018 by Eileen 1 Comment

Kitchen improvements are always extremely fun. I think part of the reason for this is that you actually feel the benefits of the home improvements when you renovate your kitchen. You’re in there every day, usually cooking and doing stuff. So, if you can make your experience better, it’ll only make you happier.

Sadly, most kitchen renovations are costly and involve loads of work. However, you can certainly improve your kitchen while sticking to a budget. Here are a few ideas that will make a big difference to your home:

How To Improve Your Kitchen On A Budget

Upgrade A Large Appliance

This idea is great because you can sort of tune it to your budget. If you’re willing to spend a fair bit of money, you can upgrade your fridge and oven. If you want to keep the costs low, then just choose one large appliance. There are two reasons I think this is a good kitchen improvement. Firstly, you normally get good deals on large appliances. I recently saw some AO discount codes floating around that mean you can save a pretty penny on a new fridge, cooker, or dishwasher. But, the main reason is that large appliances take up a considerable percentage of kitchen space. So, when one is upgraded, it’s instantly noticeable and makes the whole kitchen feel new. Oh, and you get practical benefits of a more modern and better piece of kitchen equipment.

Change The Lighting

Anyone that’s into a bit of interior design will know how much can change when you switch up the lighting in a room. In your kitchen, you can do so many different things to improve the lighting situation. If you have those long bar lights, you can swap them for little round LED’s. Or, you can have lamps hanging down from the ceiling, which has become popular lately. You could even ignore the main lighting situation and add new lights underneath kitchen cabinets to light up your work surfaces. I’m a big fan of this idea because you can get your DIY hands out and change the lighting yourself. It’s not too hard to do, and it saves you having to call in a contractor to do it for you.

Install New Handles On Cabinets/Drawers

We all wish we had enough money to pay for a complete kitchen renovation where all the cabinets and drawers were swapped out. If you can’t afford this, then don’t worry, there’s something else you can do. Instead, why don’t you swap out the handles and knobs on these things for something newer and more modern? It might sound weird, but it’s genuinely a smart idea. The cabinets and drawers will look and feel new, but all you’ve done is take off the existing handles and put new ones in. It’s far cheaper, less time consuming, and the perfect kitchen improvement idea. There’s even a video below that shows you what to do:

Part of the joy in making home improvements is figuring out smart ways to renovate your home without breaking the bank. These budget-friendly ideas are so great, and they’ll leave with a kitchen that feels fresh!
