Think Words Review

28 April 2018 by Eileen

Today is the seventh year of International Tabletop Gaming Day. It is a day where every geek or gamer come together to celebrate tabletop gaming! We are so pleased to celebrate this day with John Adam Think Words, a fast-paced category word game that challenges players to think quickly!

think words review

We are no strangers to the Think Words games as we have recently reviewed their Think Words Spin game! The difference between these two games is Think Words game is a larger tabletop version that comes with an electronic gaming unit, whereas Think Words Spin is a portable travel game.

Think Words game is suitable for aged eight and above. It is for two to eight players which is great for a party game! Besides the gaming unit, it also comes with 36 cards (containing 144 categories) hidden under the unit’s compartment, and instructions. It requires two AA batteries which are not included in the set. There is no assembly at all. To play, remove the cards from the category card compartment and turn it on.

think words base

To play this game, a player chooses a category card and presses the timer to start. The first player has 10 seconds to complete three tasks. First, they need to say a word matching the category, then press the letter on the wheel that matches it and press the timer to reset the countdown. Then pass to the next player to say a word starting with one of the remaining letters. If a player fails to complete all three tasks within 10 seconds, the bell sounds and they are out of the round. Continues to play with the same category until one player remains. To reset the letters, simply move the blue switch to the left and the letters will pop back out.

This game is very interesting and challenging. It challenges everyone to thinks fast and is definitely great to work on your vocabulary! My daughter and I did struggle a lot as we both are not great at fast thinking but this didn’t put us off at all. The categories given are not all difficult for children to guess. We all had fun and the gaming unit is very sturdy and well made. It is definitely able to withstand all sorts of bashing by our mighty fingers! Do check them out if you like word games!
