Hexbug Battle Ground Tower Review

31 October 2017 by Eileen 3 Comments

Hexbug Battle Ground Tower is a battle strategy kit that comes with two Battle Spiders 2.0 that fight with light! Not only that, you also get to create your own combat zone using the wreckage walls. It is suitable for aged eight and above, and you can play with up to four players (each additional spider sold separately).

These Battle Spiders 2.0 comes in two different colours: Blue and Orange. Each comes with their own coloured remote controls and have a total of 6 LR44 button batteries for replacement. Do remember to keep the batteries well away from younger children.

The spiders are fuelled with futuristic voice and sound effects. The sound level is slightly on the quiet side. The on/off button is located around the middle part of the spider. Hold the button for 2 seconds to turn it off. Quick press to reset health & pairing and to turn it on.

These high-tech infrared spiders can actually fire at one another and their light can even bounce off walls to hit opponents around the corner. The spiders are very well made, quick to move around and their heads are able to rotate 360 degrees to fire in every direction.

They are also very responsive and pair up quickly to the infra-red remote controllers. As an adult, I do find the controllers a little too small and worry that they are not robust enough but they work fine for little hands! Do make sure your child look after the controllers as they are quite small and very easy to drop if they get too excited.

This kit also comes with a tower, 15 walls and 20 pylons. The tower and walls are made from cardboard hence it is advisable to look after it and avoiding bending it. I love how realistic the walls look and it makes an impressive combat zone. Slotting the walls onto the pylons might require some help from adults as children might accidentally bend the walls while sliding it in.

Mr K and Ms C were well impressed with the spiders and had a lot of fun playing with them. The kit also allows them to design and build their own combat zone to their own liking! This Hexbug Battle Ground Tower makes a great Christmas or birthday present. It is available to buy in good toy retailers and Amazon. For more information, please visit https://www.hexbug.com/.
