Spin Master Air Hogs Hyper Stunt Drone is a micro remote control toy that enables you to roll on floors, fly up walls and even across ceilings! It comes in a removable roller cage which also doubles as a crash resistant frame. It is suitable for aged 8 and above.
In addition to the drone, there are also 4 spare propellers, a USB charger and instructions. It requires 2 AAA batteries for the remote control which are not included. Before you play, plug in the USB charger via a computer or USB charger port to charge the drone. It takes around 10-15 minutes to charge for each play of 3 to 5 minutes. The USB charger red light indicator will turn off once it is fully charged. It is important to wait for 10-15 minutes to let the battery cool down before you charge the drone again.
The handset is lightweight and it is rectangular in shape which makes it easy to hold. The tops for the two joysticks have rough edges to make it easy to grip by the thumbs. There are two speed settings: Mode 1 for low speed mode and Mode 2 for high speed mode.
You can choose to play the drone with or without the cages. Personally, I prefer to play it with the cage especially with young children and to protect the drone from bumps and scrapes, and also your furniture! To insert the cages, clip the cradle onto the drone before inserting the cages at both sides. To play, switch on your drone and place it in an open space. Before you turn on your handset, you have to make sure that the left joystick is positioned down fully. Turn on your controller, select your speed mode and synchronise the drone. It didn’t take long to pick up the signal and you can start to fly.
At the moment, we are able to fly the drone upwards and around. We do find it quite difficult to control the drone – I think we need to learn to be more sensitive with the controls. Even when we crash it though, the drone survives and still looks perfect. This drone features gyro-stabilization for a smooth, stable ride. All we are lacking really is plenty of practise. There have been a couple of times when we’ve needed to troubleshoot why it won’t fly, which so far has been because the propellers were stuck under the cradle or low battery.
As a newbie, it is best to fly in a clear room to avoid any unnecessary obstacles. I love that this drone comes with the safety guards around the propellers which gives it some protection. So far the propellers haven’t broken yet but if they do, make sure you swap the correct blade (R or L) otherwise it will not fly properly. We have managed to crash the drone in every corner of the house but the drone seems pretty hardy. We enjoy flying this drone but wish that we could fly for a bit longer. It is a shame that the battery life is quite short. This Spin Master Air Hogs drone is available to buy from good toy retailers and Amazon. For more information, please visit: http://gb.airhogs.com/
