I want to add colour to my garden! I am so pleased to take part in Homebase’s Garden Goals challenge where I need to complete two tasks! First is to write about why I am adding colour to my very dull garden and tell you what I am going to do about it. My second post is to show you the transformation I have made using the Homebase’s Garden Goals instructions.
I’ve not been happy with my garden since all my lavender plants in my back garden died two years ago. Since then, the soil has been filled with weeds and all sorts of rubbish like food waste. I have wanted to create a new border and inject some colour into my garden with plants and shrubs. I didn’t have any colour scheme in mind as I would like to browse what they have in store. Also I would like to replace my garden furniture and get garden art to help to create a colourful relaxing outdoor space.
Luckily, Homebase have created Garden Goals instructions for adding colour to your garden where they share their gardening tips, video and shopping lists including what you will need to buy for each task you wish to undertake. They also have a list of tasks for one hour, half a day and one day, depending on how much time you have to spend in the garden. After looking through the website, I have written a list of items I wish to buy.
Now let’s begin! After arriving in the store, I headed towards the garden section at the back of the store and asked their friendly staff for advice on picking the right plants. Each section was very well labelled and it was easy to find what we looking for. The whole place was well stocked with great value plants and flowers!
As I mentioned that I didn’t have any colour scheme in mind, Mr K decided to pick a few plants for me.
For the centre of the feature wall, I bought a climber and along with it, I have bought a few shrubs, lavender plants and evergreen plants. Also not forgetting buying a few packets of compost soil, flower bulbs, gloves and plant feed. We managed to fill two trolleys worth! Luckily, we managed to fit it all inside our car! Look out for my next post where I take up three different tasks listed on the Garden Goals instructions for this project!
