Post Rusty Rivets Twitter Party

18 March 2017 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Did you join us on Thursday for the fun-filled Rusty Rivets Twitter Party with ukmumstv? We had so much fun doing all the activities and of course watching an episode of Rusty Rivets!

Rusty Rivets is an animated television series currently airing daily at 5.30pm on Nick Jr. It follows the adventures of a young inventor named Rusty and his team of customized robots. Rusty uses his knowledge of engineering to repurpose machine parts and create gadgets. He lives in the city of Sparkton Hills along with his Hispanic-American friend Ruby, a robotic tyrannosaurid named Botasaur, and a group of smaller robots known as the Bits. The show highlights a variety of concepts related to basic science and technology.

After getting everyone ready, we first started off with a memory game. I gave the cards a good shuffle and placed the cards face down. Children then take it in turns to reveal the pictures beneath and see if they matched. This was a great to get children to learn about the characters’ names.

Next, I provided them a load of cool crafts to allow them each to make their own robot. All of them were very focused and made awesome robots using paper cups, pipe cleaners, googly eyes and pen. They spent the next 15 minutes trying to make their perfect robots and these are what they made.

We then watched an episode of Rusty Rivets before they completed the activity sheets and we also made 3D shapes using the gumdrops and toothpicks. Each of them made their own shapes and combined them all together to form this triangular oblong.

Before the party, I had placed the treasure hunt cards around the house. Children then tried to locate the cards through clues. It didn’t take long for them to find all the cards. They all had fun doing the activities and loved watching the show.
