Nixplay Iris WiFi Digital Frame Review

10 March 2017 by Eileen

Nixplay is the ultimate digital picture frame that brings families closer together. You can share your photos instantly from your smartphone or iPad to your frame, and/or your family and friends as well. This is all done by using their simple app to send the photos and the frame receives the photos over WiFi. It does not require an SD card.

Nixplay offers four different types of frames: Iris, Seed, Edge and Digital Frame (non-WiFi). I have received their latest Iris frame with a stunning silk metal finish. It is stylish and sleek, with a stunning display. It comes in three different colours to choose from: Peach Copper, Silver and Burnished Bronze. What I have here is the Peach Copper finish which is simple yet striking. This wonderful 8 inch frame contrasts against the bright white walls and it is perfect for placing in a living room, hallway, bedroom or office.

It comes with a frame, a remote control, USB cable, power adaptors (to use in US, UK and Europe) and instructions. Setting up is very straightforward – check out my video where I demonstrate this. All you need is your WiFi password handy and to download the app onto your smartphone or other devices.

On the side of the frame, you can find the activity sensor, built-in speaker, light sensor and reset button. You can place the frame in portrait or landscape aspect by bending the power cable to stand and to support the frame. It will detect and adjust the photo to ensure optimal display. In the settings, you can adjust the activity sensor (from 0 to 10) and it will turn the frame on/off depending on whether noise is detected. At night, you can set a sleep schedule to save power. You can also adjust the volume, light sensor, display date & time and many more.

One feature I particularly like about this, is the long and thick cable. It is very well made and should not easily break. Unlike some other digital frames. This is a high quality frame that should last for years.

Before you synchronise it, you need to download the free app via the App Store or Google Play. If you have not used this before, you would need to open an account. Once done, it allows you to send your photos to your frame instantly. If you would like to share your photos to your family and friends, they would have to download the app and set up an account. At the moment, there is some limitation using the app, like you can’t delete photos or get the photo via your social media onto your frame etc. But you can log in through their website and retrieve your photos via social media accounts to upload onto your frame.

nixplay websiteI love that I am able to use the app to upload photos instantly straight to the frame. It is also a great way to show your family and friends using the frame rather than viewing them on your phone. The app allows you to send up to 10 photos each time to make a playlist which is very fast.

Overall this high quality frame will look great in any home. It is easy to set up and a great solution. I would recommend it to anyone. It is available to buy online http://shop.nixplay.co.uk/ with 20% off using MDAY17 on checkout or Amazon.
