As Chinese New Year is drawing near, we have been busy decluttering and spring cleaning around the house. Thanks to these Kilrock cleaning products, a tough job was made simpler. Kilrock have a huge range of household products to keep your home in tip-top condition and make life easier for you while saving money on your energy bills and effort on your chores.
One of common problems is living in damp conditions which is neither good for your health nor your home! North-facing walls in old houses without modern insulation are particularly prone to developing damp spots. Condensation causes mould in rooms with a high water moisture level, typically bathrooms and kitchens but also cellars and basement which are not well-ventilated. Excess moisture can damage wallpaper, paint, furniture and fabrics and mould spores can cause respiratory problems, coughing and asthma. Tell-tale signs of damp are a musty smell, stained walls, peeling wallpaper or paint and damp wood which can rot. So we have been using Kilrock’s Damp Clear Moisture Trap which uses hydroscopic crystals to absorb moisture and humidity in a space. It is very easy to install and fill the crystals in the trap.
Mould can set in around the seals of windows and doors, showers, sinks and baths, and if left untreated, unsightly, black mould and mildew can be extremely difficult to shift and may cause respiratory problems, allergic reactions and exacerbate asthma. I have a few of these problems around my sink and bathrooms! To get rid of these mould patches, I used the Kilrock Blast Away Mould remover and brush on gel for some hard to reach area. It didn’t totally get rid of this stubborn mould but at least it removed the top layer and I hope after a few more treatments, it will get rid of it completely.
Blocked drains is another common problem at home! Once a month, we have to use a whole bottle of sink unblocker to clear the drains. I am pleased to know that you can use just one third of a bottle of Kil-Block Plughole Unblocker to keep your drains clean and clear. It didn’t leave any nasty chemical smells after pouring down the drain.
Another problem for many households is limescale and as many as two thirds of the country is affected by hard water. Limescale builds up in areas of high water flow such as taps, baths, showers and toilets. It particularly likes heating elements and can therefore cause problems in appliances such as kettles, irons, boilers and radiators. Limescale deposits can cause blockages and decrease the efficiency of your appliances. In kettles, for example, limescale build up ‘insulates’ the heating element preventing the transfer of heat to water and requiring more energy to boil. Crunchy fragments of limescale can easily break off and inadvertently get poured into hot drinks, never a pleasant experience for the drinker. Washing machines and dishwashers also perform more efficiently if they are limescale-free. I have tried this Kilrock-K descaler on my kettle and I am very pleased with the result as you can see from the photo. Now I am going to enjoy a clean cup of water from this kettle.
Lastly for the specialist cleaning tasks, I am using the natural, non-toxic Bar Keepers Friend products to keep everything in good condition like my sink. After applying the power cream, my sink is looking almost like new.
Bar Keepers Friend is a specialist, premium cleaning range first launched in the States in 1882 and has remained a firm favourite with British households for decades. It cleans and polishes just about anything.
