My Best First Date

23 January 2017 by Eileen

What is my Best First Date? To celebrate this coming Valentine’s day, Mainline Menswear have collaborated with 85 designer brands to offer myself a chance of winning a massive £1250 worth of designer clothing for my husband to write about my best first date.

I’m not going to lie or make up stories about my perfect first date as I didn’t really have much personal experience in dating. My husband was my second first date and of course that was the best. I don’t say that because he will be reading this but he knows it is true anyway. This coming 3rd February is our 10th wedding anniversary and we have made special plans to celebrate it with our children.

My Best First Date

Let’s start in the year 2002 when I came to the UK to work as a theatre nurse. It was very hard to leave my family and friends behind in Singapore and start a whole new life trying to make new friends. So I turned to the internet to try to find new likeminded friends. During that time, Friendster was quite popular as one of the grandfathers of social networking websites, where you can find friends to connect. I did a quick search for male friends in London and bingo! I found my husband’s profile who fit into my criteria. I looked for someone who was Chinese, cute and older than me. I started messaging him and we started chatting on msn. Then it was not long before we decided to meet up and have our first date!

It was in May bank holiday and we met at Victoria station. It was central location for both of us after work. He was very well dressed in his suit and looked very charming. Then the rest, as they say, is history! Now we have been together for 13 years will be soon be married for 10 years. Time has just passed us so quickly and blessed us with two amazing children.

Even a decade on, he is still looking as charming as ever. Now he is moving towards a casual look with a smart Superdry Orange Label Full Zip Hoodie in Eclipse Navy. This is a full front zip fastening with a large hood which features branded dark metal eyelets and chunky white woven drawstrings with the signature woven Superdry logo patch situated on the end of the right drawstring in navy, orange and white. This super soft material keeps him very warm and there are two pouch pockets at the waist. This is a small size and it fits him very well. Originally, he was unsure if he should get a medium size as he wears medium for other Superdry clothes. To put him at ease, he decided to chat to the Live Customer Service who gave him the exact measurement for him to check. It was such a helpful conversation which really gave him the confidence to order the small size. We love this service as it means not needing to return items for the wrong size/fit.

Of course, whenever we are having a date together or meeting with friends, he will dress more smart casual style, like in this Michael Kors Slim Fit Stretch Cotton Shirt in black. This is a full front Michael Kors button opening with a boned spread shirt collar and long sleeves with adjustable button fastening cuffs. The signature woven Michael Kors logo patch is sewn onto the bottom of the button placket in black and white. This smart shirt is slim fit that shows his body frame very well. The materials are 96% cotton and 4% elastane which is very soft to touch and it gives a little bit of stretch. He loves this gorgeous shirt and he looks amazing in it.

So how was your first date? Did your other half dress to impress or were they more casual? Does your other half always go over the top with their style? Well, I am glad to say that Mr C loves to dress to impress in a good way and not over the top!

Disclosure: This is a competition collaboration post. We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review, however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
