üutensil Super Smash & Stirr

24 April 2016 by Eileen

Recently, I have come across these unique and beautiful kitchen gadgets from üutensil.  They are a British design company that creates exciting and innovative kitchen products that stand out on the retail shelf and in the kitchen.

uutensil stirr review

Stirr is an automated pan stirrer that does your work for you with a push of a button. I own a Jamie Oliver Homecooker and I know how nice it is to have it stir for you to give you a spare moment to do something else. This Stirr comes with 3 speed options: slow, medium and fast.  It requires 4 AA batteries which are included in the set. There are two battery caps provided: purple and green and the whole unit is easy to assemble. The legs are made from nylon and are heat resistant to 200°F (93°C).  The legs are easy to remove for washing and are dishwasher safe. This is suitable to stirring sauces, soups, porridge, gravy and more, on a smaller base pan/pot.

In my video, I will demonstrate how to assemble the Stirr and how it works. https://youtu.be/joLmaDFyxJU

I like this clever Stirr as it’s like it gives me an extra hand so I can get on with other things. The three speeds are adequate and easy to control. The cap/handle does get moist from the heat, hence be careful when touching it as it might slip while holding. Overall it is a clever gadget to have at home!

uutensil super smash

The Super Smash comes with a big pestle that fits the curve of the mortar.  With the large surface area of the pestle, it makes sure that every ingredient is well smashed! The pestle comes with a soft touch, non-slip handle with unique star grooves to capture spices and hold them in place. The mortar is made from porcelain with a nice curve on the body for holding.  The weight of the mortar is quite heavy and there is a gap in the base which you can see in my video.

To use this super smash, simply use your palm to rotate the pestle rather than pounding.  It is easy and smooth to smash the ingredients.  As for washing, I find the water gets trapped at the base of the mortar as the base is hollow.  Hence drying might take a while.  I love that the pestle is extra-large compared to other than other pestles, which makes life easier.  These kitchen gadgets are available on http://www.uutensil.com

How clever is that stirring gadget? I could do with something like this when multitasking in the kitchen, I always get distracted and burn the bottom of the pan!
