Rush Hour Junior Review

4 April 2016 by Eileen

Rush Hour Junior is a traffic jam logic game that is suitable for ages six and upwards.  Rush Hour Junior provides hours of educational fun which helps with problem solving and develops critical thinking skills.

rush hour junior review

The game includes 15 traffic jam cars, trucks, buses and fire trucks, 1 cool ice-cream truck, 1 traffic grid, Game Go bag, 40 beginners to expert challenge cards, instructions and tip book. This game makes an ideal travel game, as the Game Go bag makes for easy storage.

The 40 challenge cards are grouped in four levels of difficulty: One scoop of ice-cream for Beginners, Two scoops of ice-cream for Intermediates, Hot Fudge Sundae for Advanced level and Banana Spit means you’re an expert.

rush hour game review

You have to use your logic to work out how to get the ice cream truck out of the traffic.  You have to shift the cars, trucks and buses in their lanes that are blocking the way – up and down, left and right until the path is clear for the ice-cream truck to escape.  If you get stuck in a jam, the complete move sequence solution is printed on the back of each challenge card.

The first few cards, Ms C didn’t need my help to solve the problems.  But when the challenges get a bit more difficult, I have to guide her along by giving her suggestions.  She enjoys the challenges and there is always utter delight when she manages to get the ice cream truck out!

Mr K on the other hand, is very confident and happy to work each of the challenges out on his own.  We have also played along with a couple of friends and even adults enjoy playing the super hard levels!  Level 39 took them at least over a quarter of an hour to solve it.

We find this game very challenging and a great logic and reasoning game.  The game was very well made with a card holder and colourful hollow plastic vehicles.  I would recommend it to all ages!  It is great as a travel game. It is available to buy from Paul Lamond, good toy retailers and Amazon.
