Disney Rummy Review

10 December 2015 by Eileen 182 Comments

Disney Rummy is a simple and yet fun update on a classic family game. It contains two ways to play! The “Discovery” junior game helps children learn the basics of matching whilst the “Family” game gives you all the fun of classic rummy! This game is available to buy on Amazon and other retailers at RRP £17.99.

This is suitable for aged 4 and above and for 2 to 4 players. The game comes with 52 tiles, 4 blue tile-holders and instructions. The print and the quality of the tiles are superb and I love all the details. It is great size for young children to hold and there are no sharp edges.

As mentioned, there are two ways of playing. The junior game version is for younger children and it is a memory game. Place all the tiles face-down on the table. The players need to match two tiles that are having the same character or the same colour to win the set. The player who has the most tiles is the winner.

As for the family game version, you need to make runs or families in order to get rid of all your tiles. We only needed one trial run of the game and both of my children were able to pick up the game quickly.

To play this game, each player gets six tiles and places them onto their tile-holder. Then place four tiles face up on the table. The rest of the tiles are all neatly stacked at one side as a draw pile. If a player on their turn does not have an available tile to play, they would need to draw one tile from this pile.

To make a run, you would need to have a set of tiles of the same colour where the values follow in numerical order. To make a family, you would need the same characters on the tiles. To win the game, you need to get rid of all your tiles. This is quite a simple and fun game for the whole family.
