Go MINI Night Challenge Raceway Review

26 November 2015 by Eileen 4 Comments

Go MINI is a range of vehicles and playsets based on the popular MINI cars, aimed at pre-schoolers. With breath-taking flicks and tricks, Go MINI is guaranteed to get the hearts of every little petrol-head racing! This Go MINI Night Challenge Raceway will take your racing skills up a gear!

Go MINI Night Challenge raceway

This is an all-white track with fun striking graphics on the unusual track. This is suitable for aged 3 and up to eight years old. Inside this box, it comes with tracks with barriers and bridge support, 2 hand controllers, 2 MINI cars and instructions. The control box requires 8 AA batteries which are not included in the set. If you prefer not to run by batteries, you could buy a ‘DC plug’ to plug it straight in to the mains.

In my video, I demonstrate how to use the raceway and show the MINIs in action.

Setting up the raceway takes at least 20 minutes. I found it easier to set up without the children around as they would be too much of a distraction. Occasionally I found it hard to close the gaps between the tracks. Otherwise this is quite straightforward to set up. The instructions also provide two additional ways of setting up the track.

This comes with an exciting Dual Speed Switching technology which allows parents to choose the right level of driving ability for their children. For younger racers (suggested aged 3 – 5), select low speed and the car will never leave the track, so no crashes and no frustration! For the older drivers (5 – 8 year old) switch to high speed for an added turbo boost and watch as the cars zoom around the bends. Both my children love this feature compared to an older model car set that we have because the cars don’t go flying off or lose contact with the metal rails.

This track can also be enjoyed by a single player as they can race against a pace car, the speed of which can also be controlled. This is a great idea which is a big improvement on our old set! It’s far more fun when there is competition.

Another nice feature of this set is that the underside of the cars glow as they race around which looks so cool!

go MINI raceway playing

Both my children enjoy playing it and there it’s relatively frustration free with the cars staying on the track. This is also a great set if you have limited floor space as the track layouts do not take up too much room compared to some others. I would suggest getting a DC adapter for it though to save having to changing batteries. This is available to buy from Argos, Toys R Us, Tesco, Littlewoods and Amazon.
