Natural wood versus smartwatch. Natural wood wins! Not long ago, we came across JORD who are a wooden watches company and we fell in love with the notion of a timepiece that uses natural materials. Their watches look very unique and has proved to be quite the talking point.
JORD Wood Watches are based in the USA and they ship international. We received the watch very quickly with registered mail. Mr C went for the Fieldcrest Series black wood watch. This is a classic midsize watch. The monochromatic wood face, bezel, and strap serve to showcase the intricacy of the wood grain. It has a stainless steel deployment buckle with push button. In fact, it is very easy to push and release the buckle but at the same is very secure on your wrist. The watch is very lightweight and has scratch resistant mineral. Out of the box, the straps were too long for Mr K. So we used a small screwdriver (for spectacles) to push the Individual links out and shorten it. It can be a bit fiddly to do so you can always take it to a watch shop to do it for you.
Each JORD watch is designed to be splash proof but is not intended for complete submergence in water. So it is best to take it off if you are getting soaked with water. Also to note that due to the nature of the wood chosen for each unique timepiece, colours and grain patterns may vary from photos.
Here is Mr C’s thoughts:
“I love my JORD watch. It’s a classic looking timepiece that is well proportioned for my wrist. I compared this to my old metal watch and by comparison the JORD watch is so much lighter that you don’t feel your wrist is weighed down, and also the wood material is much more temperature neutral. There’s nothing worse than wearing a cold metal watch on a cold day that just sends shivers down your arm and body.”
He wears it regularly for sport, work and leisure. The watch will match any outfit. Mr C looks very smart in his, if we can ignore the facial hair (he’s growing it in aid of Movember).
Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
