Octonauts Gup-S Polar Exploration Review

28 September 2014 by Eileen

Sound the Octo-Alert! This is Captain Barnacles! Octonauts Gup-S polar exploration vehicle is designed to withstand the coldest of climates and be able to explore icy environments with ease. The Octonauts Gup-S can transform into two different vehicles: the Octo-Sled and the Octo-Shuttle.

This playset comes with:

  • Octo-Sled
  • Octo-Shuttle
  • Two mini-skis
  • Three interchangeable rescue tools
  • Iceberg
  • Narwhal
  • Captain Barnacles in his snow suit

This playset required minimal assembly and the instructions can be found on the box itself. There are 3x AAA batteries included to light up the creature warming tank on the Octo-Shuttle with music, sound and phrases!

Both my children were so excited when the moment they saw this Octonauts Toy from Fisher Price. Without much instruction from me, they both were happily detaching and attaching the Octo-Sled on to the Octo-Shuttle with ease. The quality of the GUP-S is great – its colour are bright and colourful which encourages a lot of imaginative play.

When they need to have a quick explore, they detach the Octo-Sled and swap the interchangeable tools to drill through the ice block. The Octo-Sled also features a place for Captain Barnacles and a wheel that can be turned to make the tools spin.

Then they use the two mini-skis to attach the ice drill or jackhammer to break through the iceberg and save the narwhal and then use the rescue claw to carefully carry the creature back to safety.

Once they are arrive at the Octo-Shuttle, open the see-through hatch door and press the red button on the side to activate the Anti-freeze Warming System which lights up the Octo-Shuttle’s floor and illuminates the creature warming tank. The button also emits a few Octonauts sound effects and phrases which are sound clips directly from the show.

When Octo-Shutter is attached or detached from the Octo-sled, it makes a light, sound and phrase too. Octo-Shutter is outfitted with retractable treads which can be folded up when it is in the sea!

This is a great set with lots of play features and plenty to keep them entertained. It is great for any Octonauts fans aged 3 and above. Both of my children (aged 5 and 6) still very much love Octonauts and have been playing with it regularly. The playset is very well made and thought out as they look very authentic to the TV show. I would highly recommend it!

Disclosure: We have received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.

This looks fab! Mister B is begging me for Octonauts toys for his birthday. It’s one of my children’s favourite programmes – they are glued to it every morning!!

What a shame my son has grown out of Octonauts, this looks great! Thanks for sharing with #Playtime
