How to make an Easter Bonnet Hat using Paper Plate

31 March 2014 by Eileen

Last Friday, I received a letter from school that there will be an Easter Bonnet competition.  My son loves to get involved in each of the school activities and so we decided to make one.  I have to be honest that I always love to recycle their crafts as much as possible.  I did a bonnet hat for Ms C and won a prize before but I couldn’t find it.  So we had to start again.

Easter Bonnet Hats

I did Google for Easter Bonnet Hat and found this quick and easy craft using a paper plate from Crafts Ideas.

For this craft, most of the materials are recycled from an Easter egg hunt or gift.

Materials:

  • Paper plate
  • Scissors & Pen knife
  • Glue & Stapler
  • Double sided tape
  • Décor: Ribbon, Paper Chain, Eggs card, Flower cards, Easter theme foam etc

Easy Way to make Easter Hat using paper plate

After using a pen knife to slit the paper plate, we decorated it with foam, paper chain for the ribbon and pasted some old Easter egg hunt kits.  This is such a simple craft especially as everything is recycled from last year.  We didn’t need to buy anything at all!

They look great fun! I remember my mother helping me to make bonnets from paper plates when I was little. All sorts were added to the bonnets. I remember the parades as well. Good luck in the competition. #pintorials

That’s a great idea. We did something similar a few years ago. Now I just buy them LOL.

Brilliant idea – wondering what to do with the party left-over paper plates!
