Solving jigsaw puzzles are a great work out for the brain and can be beneficial for improving problem solving, learning ability and eye co-ordination for both children and adults. Jigsaw puzzles are normally made from cardboard but this Wentworth puzzle is 100% made in the UK from sustainably sourced 3mm wooden board. Every puzzle has unique whimsy shapes which typically relate to the picture theme. There are no two pieces that are the same.
My son has been learning about world map and I think it is great to teach him while doing the World Map puzzle. This is a 250 piece puzzle measuring 51 cm by 36 cm. They also come in 50 piece puzzles measuring slightly smaller at 36 cm by 25 cm. The puzzle comes in a cloth drawstring bag inside a sturdy cardboard box. This is ideal for storage and keeps each puzzle safe in the bag.
Both of my children and I found it quite difficult and it took us nearly an hour to complete it. It might look simple but it is very challenging and a lot harder than conventional cardboard puzzles with its whimsy shapes like a kiwi, Effiel tower, cactus etc. The puzzle is made from a good quality wood and I’m sure it can withstand considerable abuse without it breaking. The puzzle has a strong wooden smell. The picture is colourful and comes in a matt finish.
This world map is very well drawn with a lot of lovely animals and highlights the main structures of the world. In the box, it also come with a list of countries that help the children to refer back. We all enjoyed this new challenge and I believe this puzzle is more suited to aged 7 and upwards. I love that it is very well made and a premium quality puzzle. It should last for years to come.
Wentworth can also turn your own photographs, paintings or drawings into personalised puzzles using their wide range of themed cut patterns to make the perfect jigsaw for yourself or as a unique personalised gift for family and friends. They even have cuts with letter shaped puzzle pieces which spell out messages such as Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary or Merry Christmas. If you are after a personalised puzzle, this would make a good choice.
