Series 2 Sports Stars Football Pitch and Play Set Review

20 August 2013 by Eileen

Do you have any football fans at home?  Want to own your own Top Premiership Team?  Character Building Sports Stars Football is one you might like to get for your children or your other half!

Series 2 Sports Stars Football Pitch and Play Set

In this playset, there are:

  • 24 Pitch sections
  • 2 Goal Posts
  • 2 Goal Nets
  • 4 Corner Flags & Bases
  • 6 Connecting Pieces
  • 8 Slider Bases (4 Red & 4 Blue)
  • 2 Goalkeeper Bases
  • 3 Football Figures (Random)
  • 1 Football
  • 1 Instruction Leaflet

Assembling all 24 pitch sections is very easy as it is like doing a simple jigsaw puzzle by clicking them together. The whole pitch measures 51 cm by 38 cm. The pitch is a bit bumpy where the pieces join together. However, it is easy to slide each player using the slider bases.

Series 2 Sports Stars Football Pitch and PlaySet

Setting up both goals were not easy. I found it quite hard to push and click the nets into the posts. Overall it took me around 10 minutes from unpacking it to building it. Both my children were so eager to play with it. We played it on the table and find that the balls kept getting kicked off the pitch each time we made a move. This in fact, didn’t cause us any frustration but triggered huge amounts of giggling!  They just loved watching me pick up their balls as if I am the ball girl. I would suggest playing on the floor instead to avoid high velocity footballs flying across the room.

This is a 5-a-side pitch with full rules for throws-ins, free kicks and fouls. As a non-football fan here, I don’t follow the rules (my husband has explained a million times) and I just let both children have free play instead. I think this is more fun than havingstrict rules. This playset is recommended for 5+ years old.  We might follow the rules when we play with older children.

This is a video we made: https://youtu.be/wWalG1UDIRs

As all supplied figures are random, we have to make do with footballers as goalkeepers. To control the goalkeeper, you slide them across the goal using the goalkeeper bases.

There are a total of 106 figures to collect for the 2013/2014 season kits from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Each figure come in three parts and a football. They are easy to assemble. Each figure’s facial expression has a good likeness to the real player itself.

Overall, the quality of the playset is good and both of my children have a lot of fun playing with it. It is definitely great for any football fans who like to collect their own Premiership Team.  It would be quite expensive to complete all the collections of teams.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
