Breakfast at Chiquito’s

5 May 2013 by Eileen

After having a quick shop around Derby, we popped by Chiquito Derby for breakfast. Chiquito is a Mexican restaurant and bar.  Recently, they launched their new breakfast menu.  Breakfasts are available at 25 restaurants that opens from 9 am onwards.  The other restaurants will open at 11 am for lunch.  Please check before you go.

When we reached the desk, we were shown to our table by the lovely waitress. Each child was given a pack of activities to do. Ms C was so eager to get the crayons out to draw while Mr K wanted to play the board game. They also provided a complimentary bowl of salted popcorn. It is quite an unusual starter/snack!

Breakfast at Chiquito's

Browsing down their breakfast menu, there are a good selection of Hot Breakfast, Baps & Wrap, Omelettes and Lighter Bites. I went for the safe option by getting a Full Breakfast Sizzler and Mr C went for the Mexican Ranch Egg.  His brekkie sounded very adventurous! I asked for a Lipton Ice Tea and Mr C went for an Americano (unlimited refill when you order from the breakfast menu).

Full Breakfast Sizzler comes with two fried eggs, pork and leek sausage, two back bacons, two hash browns, roasted cherry tomatoes on the vine and sauteed mushrooms served on a warm skillet.

Each pieces are beautifully cooked and well presented served on the warm skillet.  It gave an unusual look! I love that they used pork and leek sausage instead of the usual plain pork sausages. It gives a very distinctive taste!  It costs £5.95 which is very reasonable price for a breakfast meal. I rated this 5 stars out of 5 as it was cooked well and delicious.

Mexican Ranch Egg is a proper Chiquito favourite!  A grilled flour tortilla topped with chorizo, sweetcorn, jalapeño and onion medley, black beans, salsa, cheese and eggs. It looked so appetizing and mouthwatering! Mr C found it delicious and loved the fact that it would make for a slightly unusual breakfast. Again, it is reasonably priced at £5.95. I rated this 4.5 stars out of 5 and is a breakfast I would have again.

Overall, I rate the whole experience 5 stars out of 5. Both kids and grown-ups enjoyed the delicious food and we will have to add Chiquitos to our list of breakfast eateries in future. Next time, I will try their baps and wraps breakfast meal. They look extremely tasty.

Disclosure: We were given a breakfast gift voucher for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
