Galt Marble Run Review

15 July 2012 by Eileen

I have been fortunate to be sent a Galt marble run from Galt Toys to do a video and written review. I knew it would be a hit with both of my children as they had not played anything like this before.

Galt Marble Run Review

Marble run is about creativeness and playfulness. Everyone is invited to build a track/path using the colourful tubes, chutes or curves and make it into a big marble run. Drop a marble inside the columns then roll down and around the chutes on their descent to a home base. Dissemble it and rebuild it into another track based on your imagination as there was no instruction provided.

Each piece is made from plastic and it is very easy to clean.  As it is made from plastic, it is also very light weight.  It is suitable to play on a table or firm ground.  I wouldn’t recommend to play on a carpet as it may fall over.

As a parent, I like to show Mr K about the concept of the toy. But he enjoys working it out by himself and on his first trial he managed to build a marble run that used all the tracks!

(Ms C is only 3. She enjoys dropping the marbles too!)

Unfortunately, there is a flaw with our particular set where one of the marbles is fractionally bigger than the rest and therefore too big to go down the chutes.

In my view, it is good value at £10.99. I would buy it as a present for children as it is reasonably priced and provides good fun with creativity. As an adult, it is fun to build your own version!  I tried a couple of times but it was not as good as Mr K’s! He managed to cover all the paths.

The set only contains 30 pieces.  In order to build a bigger and better version, you can buy more pieces to go along with it.

Mr K played with it for a good 10 minutes each time before he get bored but he has been playing for a couple of days now which shows that it is a toy with longevity.  I know what to get him for his birthday which is the Super Marble Run. It is not the extension set but it is the same set which contains more varieties.

Details: Galt Marble run contains 30 pieces in total. There are: 9 tubes, 6 marbles, 6 Chutes, 6 Curves and 3 Bases. It is suitable for 4 – 8 year old. No instructions available.
