How does Chinese Wine Compare with French Wine?

With a burgeoning middle class, the Chinese have quickly developed a taste for fine wine. French and Italy for the last decade or so have made a lot of inroads into China and have a huge market to sell to.

As China develops their taste for wine, they have surely realized that it makes more sense to grow their own grapes and develop their own industry. Why import wine when they can simply do it themselves?

And they have started to do just that. Chinese wineries are growing all the time and now they seem poised to overtake their European competition. In this article, I will go over how different Chinese wine is from French to get an idea of the landscape in the wine world in China.

A visit to Singapore Chinatown

One of my favourite places to visit whenever I go back to Singapore is Chinatown. This place is crammed with a varied mix of past and modern sights, from temples, family-run goldsmiths and medicinal halls next to bars, restaurants and shops. It is also a great time and place to visit during Chinese New Year, especially as the dingy alleys will be packed with street hawkers, New Year’s snacks and live Chinese New Year celebration performers.

Summer Reads with Chinese Cultural Books

This summer, we have been busy reading these Chinese cultural books from Tuttle publishers.  As a bilingual parent, I have always wanted my children to learn their own mother tongue and learn about their own culture.

Tuttle have just published these books which are close to our heart and our cultures and I have been able to show it to my children. Tuttle was founded in 1832 in the small New England town of Rutland, Vermont. Since 1948, Tuttle has been a leader in publishing books on the cultures, arts, cuisines, languages and literatures of Asia. If you are looking for these types of books, they have a great range of books to buy.

Chinese Customs Review

Are you heading out to China for work or holiday? Would you like to learn more about Chinese customs in China? If so, Chinese Customs is a great book to start with. China is a vast country and a huge number of customs have become established over the centuries through the generations’ observance. Today these customs have become permanent traditions, ingrained in society as an integral part of Chinese culture.
