Traffic, traffic, traffic! Why do road workers put up traffic cones and not work? There was at least one mile of traffic cones and no one at work! So glad I left home early and managed to reach the photo studio just on time by carrying Ms C and running up the few stairs. Phew!
Hape Balance Boat is a very simple concept by asking children to balance the boat by putting the right amount of wood pieces (The Sailors) onto the boat. It can initially be very frustrating for a child. But it helps encourage them to problem solve.
Today, I had a busy day. After attending Mr K’s parent-only school meeting, I had to rush back to pick Mr K and Ms C up for a casting for Vertbaudet at Alan Sharman’s agency.
When arrived at 4 pm and there are massive queue for the casting. Lots of nervous parents, playful children and their siblings around. It was surprising that most children had both parents coming along with them to the casting. Don’t their parents need to work? As for me, I had Mr K come along for moral support! I also saw a parent bring five children to the agency! How did she manage that?
During this time, Ms C told me she was scared and she wanted to go home. I had to calm her down and play with her. Soon though, she became more comfortable and started to play with Mr K.

This was my 5th time being Ms C’s assistant-cum-driver-cum-“makeup artist”.
We had to get up earlier than usual to get Ms C’s stuff prepared e.g. her favourite snacks, drinks, accessories bag, spare clothes, car DVD player, sat nav and potty. It was a lot of things to bring for my little model!
It was a stressful one hour drive to the photo studio in Nottingham. I am so glad that Ms C will happily watch Charlie & Lola on DVD but it meant my sat nav was running on battery. Ms C refused to give up her DVD and I had no extra cigarette lighter to charge my sat nav. Phew! We just made it in time before the sat nav died on me.
We got to know Hape toys through Ms C modelling for them in August 2011. When we saw our local wooden toy shop, Explore Learn Create Toy (closed in 2014), stocked one of Ms C’s toys that she modelled for, we were extremely excited and bought this Little Drummer.
