Starfield COEX Mall

1 October 2023 by Eileen

On day 7 of our South Korea trip, we went to the underground shopping mall – Starfield COEX Mall to avoid the rain and to visit Starfield Library! This mall is in the Gangnam District of Seoul, South Korea. It was relatively far away from our location in Myeongdong and it took us nearly 40 minutes to travel there. It is located near Samseong station on Seoul Subway Line 2, at the intersection of Teheranno and Yeongdong Dae-ro.

The mall is massive and has plenty of fashion shops, restaurants, cafes and many more. It also contains the most Instagrammable library! The library was really impressive and surprisingly very tidy. It was packed full of people wanting to take the best photos of the library! We took some, but most of them were packed with people!

Later, we went to a dessert cafe to have matcha red bean snowflakes and bought some clothing. My children were not keen on visiting the Coex Aquarium.

We decided to take a walk outdoors and visit the Statue of Gangnam Style. The statue was massive and they played the background music of Gangnam Style by South Korean rapper and singer PSY.

Did you know that the song was released in 2012? It’s such a long time ago already but I recall how the song went viral, making waves around the world. My children loved it when they were young! We were all practising the dance moves and had it recorded! It was hilarious!

Next, we went to visit the Bongeunsa Temple, which was only a few minutes walk away. Please read my next post for a detailed review of the temple.

By the time we finished visiting the temple, it was nearly dinner time, and my husband suggested eating seafood. He searched for a good review and we ended up walking for 45 minutes before reaching the location! It was called the Jogabi seafood house, near Seolleung station. We had a seafood pancake, raw fish and a seafood steamboat. The seafood was very fresh, the broth was okay. With this much seafood, it still cost us less than a Korean BBQ!
