Top Pets To Own If You Have A Busy Lifestyle

6 April 2022 by Eileen

If you have been longing for a pet but have a busy lifestyle then you may have been put off from getting one. However, there are a few pets that you can own that require very little input from yourself. These animals will be perfectly fine if you are at the office all day and only home in the evenings.

Top Pets To Own If You Have A Busy Lifestyle

Hamster

Here’s one for the children that have been mitering you for a pet over and over. A hamster is a great starter pet, especially as they sleep most of the day and require little exercise. If you are trying to teach the children the importance of owning a pet then they will need to feed and water the hamster as well as clean them out each week.

Fish

If you are looking for a pet that doesn’t need much input from you apart from feeding and cleaning then fish is the way to go. As long as they have plenty of clean water to swim around in they will be happy. You need to be aware that there are three types of fish you can own, by far the easiest is cold-water fish such as goldfish. You also have tropical fish such as cichlids, be aware that you have South American and African cichlids, these two cannot mix and must be kept in separate tanks. Finally, you have the most complicated of the lot, marine fish. These can be tricky to look after as they need saltwater and tank water to be kept at a constant temperature.

Cats

Cats love their own company, however, they also love human affection. So they will happily sleep and keep themselves entertained during the day while you are out. They will also be waiting for you at the door when you arrive home to greet you. Many cat owners say coming home to a cat rather than an empty home is the best feeling in the world.

If you want to be able to spend some time with your cat outdoors but you are worried about them running off then there are things to help with this. One such example of this is an outdoor cat enclosure. This keeps them within the boundaries you set for them and away from anything harmful.

Low-Maintenance Dog

If you really want a dog to complete your family then it is possible to have one if you have a busy life. You just have to spend some time doing research and finding the right breed and temperament to fit into your family and lifestyle. One such example is an older dog from a rescue or rehoming center, these will be far less boisterous than puppies.

Rabbits

Finally, if you want a larger animal but don’t feel quite ready to introduce a cat or dog into your home then you might like to think about getting a rabbit. These can provide endless hours of entertainment while being cute to look at. There are a few different types of rabbits so make sure you research which one will be the best to get.
