DC Super Friends Book Review

2 April 2014 by Eileen

I am so glad to discover DC Superheroes book which are easy for both of my children to read.  Mr K is a huge fan of superheroes but we have found it hard to get the right books for him.  Bantam Children Publishing have published a range of DC Super Friends books on 27th March 2014.  They are aimed at children aged 5 – 7 years old.

We have received these books for review: Hero Havoc!, Crime Wave!, My Wipe-Clean Activity Book and The Super Friends Sticker Book with 50 stickers.

DC Super Friends

Both Hero Havoc! and Crime Wave! are perfect for Beginner readers who are just learning to recognize words, basic vocabulary and short sentences.  Both books contain 32 pages and fantastic action-filled comic strip illustrations.  My son adores them as they are both easy to read and of course contains his favourite superheroes.

Hero Havoc! is about Superman’s oddball opposite, Bizarro.  He come from Metropolis intent on becoming a hero too but he has a small problem which is he does everything the opposite way.  There is a twist in this story!  We were quite surprised at how the book ends so do read it yourself and find out.

Crime Wave! is about the mysterious Black Manta stealing the world’s largest pearl.  The superheroes rush to stop him but how are they going to stop him when he they have a giant octopus to fight against.

My Wipe-Clean Activity Book has 16 pages of fun activities and also come with a marker pen.  Each of the pages contain beautiful coloured illustrations.  It didn’t take long for Mr K to complete the book but what is nice about this book is that you can wipe it clean and pass it to the next child.  At the moment, Mr K is not sharing the book with his sister just yet.  The quality of the book is great and it should last for quite some time.

The Super Friends Sticker Book with 50 stickers contains 24 pages of puzzles, fun activities and learning to identify the superheroes and villains.  The stickers can be found in the middle of the book but Mr K managed to tear the stickers before he could even paste them.  A lesson learned, that I need to take them out before they are let loose on the book.  This book is definitely great while travelling as it keeps them entertained without much supervision.

All these books have an RRP £3.99 which is very reasonable.

Disclosure: I received these books from the publisher for free. However, they have not paid me for this review, and they do not exercise any editorial control over my review or anything else on this site.

My boy has a set of these books and enjoys reading them to himself, though the simplified language doesn’t flow easily if I am reading to him. I have bought some as birthday presents for his classmates too.
