Pigs in Pants by Orchard Toys

16 August 2013 by Eileen

Pigs in pants! This is the latest fun, amusing and lively matching game by Orchard Toys, launched in August 2013. My children love the idea of matching pants and they are such colourful pants too!

Pigs in Pant by Orchard Toys

Pigs in Pants is a matching and colour recognition, social communication and also encourages observation and strategic thinking. It is suitable for aged 4 plus which I think is about right. Both of my children who are aged 4 and 5 find it easy to play. It can be played with 2-4 players. It comes in a small, easy open box. It is portable and perfect to take out on a road trip, camping or picnic.

Pigs in Pant boards

It contains:

  • 4 pig boards
  • 40 pants cards
  • and 1 instruction leaflet

The cards are made from thick recycled cupboard, easy to hold, have smooth edges and are bright and colourful. Best of all it was made in Britain!

Pigs in Pants card

The objective of this game is to collect the most cards on your pig board by matching the cards in your hand with the other cards in play. Before you start the game, each player has to pick their pig board. Both of them were fighting over the pig boards and they both wanted the clean looking pigs. Luckily there were two of these and the other two are more dirty looking. Maybe my fastidious for cleanliness is rubbing off on them! Players are dealt two pants card which they hold in their hands. Four pants cards are placed face-up in the middle of the table and the remaining cards are shuffled and placed in the face-down pile.

The game starts by asking the youngest player to take a card from the pile.  The game is like a matching game but when your pants cards does not match any on the table, you have to say –  NO KNICKERS.  Both of them love to say that!  If you have cards that match other player’s board, you are allow to pinch them by saying – I’m going to pinch your pants or I’m going to nick your knickers.

At the end of their turn, the player makes their hand back up to two cards by taking cards from the face down pile. This is to ensure you have cards to play when it is your turn! Both of my children love it as it is simple and fun to play. I rate this 4 stars out of 5. There is definitely educational and play value in this game. I can see my children playing this regularly with their friends.
