The Anagranimals and The Wishing Tree

21 August 2013 by Eileen

The Anagranimals and The Wishing Tree is a book written by Leith Moghli and illustrated by Ian King. The book is suitable for ages 5 to 9. It was released on 1st September 2013 and published by Anagranimals Limited.  It is a paperback containing about 32 pages. The fonts are various sizes and easy to read.  Each page is cheekily illustrated, cute, detailed, and traditional in style.

The Anagranimals and The Wishing Tree

This is a story about the weird and wonderful creatures on Pogo Bogo.  In particular, there are six animals that feature in the story.  They are Heidi the Hippo, Pedro the Pig, Lancelot the Lion, Ebenezer the Elephant, George the Giraffe and Rocky the Rhino.  One day, while they are playing hide and seek, they all fall down the slope and came across a magical wishing tree.  The wishing tree grants them a special wish and they each wish for the best parts of their favourite animals.  The next morning is when the fun begins.  Heidi becomes a Hippo-Croco-Puss, Pedro becomes a Pig-Orillla-Roo and all the other four animals transform too.

I read the story to my 5 year old son, Mr K as he find it too difficult for him to pronounce some of the words like names.  I do think it should be easy to read by older children.  Mr K found it very amusing that the animals have different parts from other animals.  He giggled so much and found it hard to stop.  I love the original idea of the story.

I rate this book 5 stars out of 5.  The storyline is interesting and fun.  The amount of content in the book is sufficient.  We both enjoyed reading the books.  Now we are very keen to read their next adventure story of The Anagranimals and The Weeping Willow.  They also have a range of interchangeable cuddly toys at final prototype stage.  I am looking forward to seeing their toys.

If you would like to listen to the whole book of The Anagranimals and The Wishing Tree, you can watch it on YouTube.

Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher for free. However, they have not paid me for this review, and they do not exercise any editorial control over my review or anything else on this site.
