We were invited to visit the Corby Festival 2020 and received an overnight stay at this unique place. The rooms are equipped with satellite TV, tea & coffee machine, free WiFi throughout the hotel and newspapers. If you have upgraded the room, it will add mini-fridges, desks, separate sitting areas, Nespresso machines, designer toiletries and/or 4-poster beds.
This hotel is very easy to find and well signposted. We were greeted by friendly staff and within minutes, we were inside our room relaxing. The hotel is taking part in reducing plastic usage and they have a milk fridge and water dispensers on each level for guests to refill with their mug or milk glass.
We stayed in their signature family room and they have prepared the sofa beds for the children to use. The room is very spacious and modern. Take a room tour with my Instagram video to see for yourself.
We then went for dinner at their restaurant and we had one of our best meals of the year so far. There was a Chef selection bar, which you can choose for your starter or main. Now I wish I had taken photos to show you what I mean, but we were starving and dived straight in, and forgot about it until too late! During our meal, there were prawns, crayfish, salad, fish and many more.
For the children’s starters, Mr K chose the soup of the day and Ms C chose the garlic bread, my daughter’s favourite! They both followed up with spaghetti bolognese, whilst I had the pork belly and Mr C had the sirloin steak. They were delicious and we would definitely have them again.
To end the night on a high, we all had a dessert: fruits, apple crumble, brownie and baked Alaska before contently waddling back to our room.
The hotel has a list of programmes throughout the day and month. As we were too tired from a long week and drive, we all woke up early for a morning swim at 7am. Every Saturday, children are allowed to use the pool between 7 to 11am. For the rest of the timings for children, please check with the hotel before you go to avoid disappointment. Towels are provided and there are plenty of lockers to use. The pool was busy with lots of morning swimmers but both children still had space to enjoy the pool fully with Mr C.
Before we checked out, we had their continental breakfast which also included a small range of gluten free cereals. They do a nice English breakfast and after working up an appetite with the swim, the food on our plates was gone in a flash!
Thanks to Kettering Park Hotel & Spa and Northamptonshire, Britain’s Best Surprise year of arts and culture for inviting us and providing the stay and meal for free (except drinks). We had a great time there. For more information, please visit https://www.ketteringparkhotel.co.uk/
