Nintendo Switch Crayola Scoot Review

2 November 2018 by Eileen

Crayola Scoot is available to buy from today onwards in the UK on Nintendo Switch™, Xbox One™, PlayStation® 4, and Steam®. We are delighted to gain early access to play Crayola Scoot game on Nintendo Switch!

Crayola Scoot is a multi-player game to be played for up to four players at a time! From its name Crayola Scoot, you can easily guess that this game involves colours and scooters! Crayola is a big brand name specializing in artists’ supplies, especially for crayons! And now they partnered with Outright Games to create an action sports game that encourages creativity and self-expression through stunts from freestyle scooter riders!

This trailer shows off just some of the awesome tricks and scootparks to conquer! Watch it here: https://youtu.be/dREi6DIWJu4

Our first impression of Crayola Scoot is that the concept of the game is quite similar to the well-known game Splatoon, except it doesn’t allow you to play along with online players. As a parent to two young children, I think this game is so much safer as your children are not playing games with strangers. My son loves his Splatoon game very much and I always feel a bit uneasy when he plays with others online. But I can’t watch him forever and can only hope he remembers all the online safety he has been taught. With Crayola Scoot, I don’t need to monitor him as he’s only playing solo or with his sister.

The core gameplay of Crayola Scoot is quite straightforward. Players learn to perform tricks and jumps to splash your colour and activate traps, boosts and shortcuts! Each player gets to create and customize their own Crayola Scoot character. By earning coins through the gameplay, players get to upgrade their scooter, buy new items of clothing or to change their splat colour in the shop.

There are three worlds to explore: Crayola Color City, Enchanted Forest and Alien Theme Park. Each world has 12 parks to challenge the Scoot Legends for the Crayola Color Cup. In each park, you can earn up to three gold stars by leaving your mark by bringing mega-sized pieces of art to life on walls and on the ground.

There is not much of a storyline to this game. The goal is to challenge the Scoot Legends and be the top of the leaderboard. It didn’t take Mr K long to achieve that as he managed to complete the game within three days. So to be champion, you will need to beat the Scoot Legends (Dillon, Luna, Robbie, Mort, Nem and Katya) and solo events including Color Frenzy, Crazy Crayons, Splatter Tag, S.C.O.O.T. and Trick Run.

In the Color Frenzy, players work in the form of a team battle and colour the wall & grounds as much as possible to win the game. Crazy Crayons is where players try to capture crayons to win! Splatter Tag is where you chase and tag to win. For S.C.O.O.T challenge, you will challenge one of the Scoot Legends. As for the Trick Run, players will do as many stunts as they can to earn the highest number of points in a time limit to win the game.

The graphics and music of this game are average only, which reflects in the price of the game. It is very colourfully throughout which makes it very refreshing. The concept of the game is fun and simple to play. This game will appeal to children who love scooters and colouring! It is available to buy now at Argos, Game, Amazon and many more.
