Things to do in Deià, Majorca

22 March 2018 by Eileen

Finally, I have time to pick up where I left off when I blogged about our trip to Palma, Majorca. One of the things we did during this trip was a road trip and sightseeing! Having being brought up in a big city, sightseeing is always a luxury thing for us to appreciate the scenery and to enjoy the fresh air.

During one of our road trips, we visited the village of Deià which sits nestling between the sea and the Tramuntana mountain range. I didn’t research the place beforehand as my sister said it was worth having a look at it and that was good enough for me!

Driving there was pretty much straightforward but we did have to negotiate a lot of sharp corners, narrow lanes and also tour buses! Parking is not ideal but they do have a car park and street parking.

This beautiful village has the most stunning breathtaking scenery. There is a stream running along the rocks and picturesque cobbled streets that are home to great restaurants and cafés. We didn’t know which restaurant to try and went into one but was rejected as they couldn’t cope with 11 people because they only had one chef working! I was very pissed as they were relatively quiet. Anyway, we went to their neighbour, Café Es Punt, and had a fantastic meal.

We ordered a lot of dishes and each dish was very delicious and well presented! I would definitely recommend you to try them all! The prices were very reasonable.

As we were quite rushed, we didn’t really explore the area as much as we would like. They do have activities like rock climbing, road cycling, hiking, canyoning and MTB guiding. If you are travelling in a small group and all fit, it might make sense to do some hiking. We, on the other hand, had four young children and my elderly mom, so it was harder to do these more strenuous activities. Indeed, some of the footpaths were quite narrow so we had to be extra careful with the children, let alone wandering off the main paths.

Deià is definitely a place for you to relax and enjoy the scenery! Do check out my post on Pollensa Sunday market!
