Have you ever thought of asking what your children’s ideal holiday is? We have been invited to take part in a blogger challenge to ask our children this question. I am so glad that I have asked them this question as we have just came back from visiting two amazing countries in Singapore, my homeland, and Japan, a fascinating and multifaceted culture.
What we did in those countries, surprisingly is not my children’s ideal holiday! Both of their ideal holidays were the complete opposite of mine. I would prefer sightseeing and city breaks rich in culture whilst they prefer the sun and the beach. Check out this video of them telling you what their ideal holiday is! I have asked them to tell me their ideal holiday, to describe their perfect day on holiday, what their ideal holiday food is, when do they go on holiday and what would they bring to their holiday: https://youtu.be/EGR7k8kZE3I
My children prefer listening to the noise of the sea and feeling the sea breeze whilst I prefer the lively buzz of the city! We spent a lot of time in Singapore going shopping in Chinatown, doing indoor sports, visiting family and having nice meals almost every night. I avoided taking them to the seaside on the East coast. Singapore don’t have nice sandy beaches like in the UK. Also, Singapore’s seas are polluted by the ships and with the extremely hot weather, I would prefer to avoid the place. Sentosa does have very nice beach but we just didn’t have time to visit while we were there.
Also when we were in Japan, we spent a lot of time visiting the arcade! Yes, at least once or twice every day for a week, we spent most of our afternoons visiting different arcades to try our luck! In fact, they won a large suitcase full of soft toys and snacks! On our last day, they managed to win three big cuddly soft toys! They were so huge that we need to buy a travel bag to fit them in.
Nevertheless, we now know what our children’s ideal holiday is and we are able to factor that in in future. It is their holiday too and if the children are happy, we will be happy. So what is your ideal holiday? Tell me in the comments box!
