Last Sunday, we were invited to attend the Lego Friends & Lego NEXO Knights party at Legoland Windsor. We were all very excited to check out their latest range of new sets! Just in time for the summer break and then leading on to Christmas!
After a long drive and heavy rain, we made our way to the magnificent Legoland hotel. It always give me a WOW factor with the decorations. The place was very busy with hotel and party guests. Before the launch party, we were all invited to watch the new Lego NEXO Knights 4D movie!
This brand new 4D animated adventure created especially for LEGOLAND Parks and LEGOLAND Discovery Centres around the world. This is a 12 minute long film that comes with a lot of exciting action scenes, bubbles, a ball of fire, water splashes and strong wind, which all serves to bring the battle to life all around the cinema! The five young NEXO Knights have to defeat the evil Jestro, the Book of Monsters and all their Lava Monsters set in the futuristic world of Knighton. Led by heroic Clay Moorington, the band of knights join forces with the great digital Wizard, Merlok 2.0 to vanquish the enemy and stop him getting his devious hands on the powerful and completely unique Book of Creativity and something never seen before in Knighton.
This is not our first time in a 4D cinema and each time both of my children enjoy all the effects especially the bubbles and water ‘spreading’. The length of the show is good enough for us to enjoy the effects and the storyline is easy to follow.
Next we all walked back into the Hotel party room to check out their sets. Inside the party room, there was a popcorn cart, junior disco, face painting, Lego building, games, photo booths and many more!
Not forgetting the new sets! There are the Lego Friends: Amusement Park Roller Coaster 41130, Amusement Park Bumper Cars Construction 41133, Amusement Park Arcade 41127 and Amusement Park Hot Dog Van 41129. They look amazing especially the roller coaster! Ms C was having fun playing the drop tower by spinning the car down the pole!
Next what we have here is the Lego NEXO Knights: General Magmar Siege Machine of Doom Construction Set 70321, Jestro’s Volcano Lair Construction Set 70323, Macy’s Thunder Mace Construction Set 70319, Aaron Fox’s Aero-Striker V2 Construction Set 70320 and Knighton Battle Blaster 70310. Yet again, these sets look very impressive. I can imagine many hours of fun playing with these!
After the event, we went around the theme park and had a great time there! Last weekend was the Queen’s 90th birthday and they threw Her Majesty their own miniature street party in the iconic Miniland. The scene took the Resort’s model making team 650 hours to build, using around 30,000 bricks, including 520 to make The Miniland Royal Family alone.
The party was held in Miniland’s very own Mall in front of a magnificent 35,000 brick recreation of Buckingham Palace. Like the full size party, the mini version, features rows and rows of picnic tables laden with hampers and champers, complete with Union Jack flags flying and bunting decorations. More than 600 LEGO Minilander guests were in attendance, representing the charities patronised by The Queen who will be at the Parton’s Lunch on Sunday.
And, of course, guests of honour The Miniland Royal Family were at the heart of the action. With a 10cm high, 40 LEGO brick version of Her Majesty surveying the party scene with Prince Philip in a brick replica of their open topped viewing vehicle. At the Royal picnic table were Prince Charles, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, as well as Prince Harry plus Princesses Anne, Beatrice and Eugene – and of course the Royal canine companions, The Queen’s Corgis and Ludo. Plus, to add some extra sparkle Her Majesty wore a tiny crown created by famous jewellery designer, Dinny Hall to mark her diamond Jubilee, encrusted with 48 REAL tiny diamonds and the Royal ladies wore miniature hats specially made to Miniland scale by milliner to Her Majesty Rachel Trevor Morgan.
The party scene is finished off with LEGO models of carnival performers who will entertain the guests, including jugglers, stilt walkers and acrobats. The scene will be on display at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort’s Miniland until November. So don’t miss out! It looks very impressive!
Both of my children were thrilled going on all the rides and had a quick dip at Drench Towers in DUPLO valley! We had a great day at the theme park and would definitely recommend a visit for anyone!
