Philips Anti Allergen PowerPro Aqua FC6402 is a 2 in 1 wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner. It’s designed to make cleaning so much easier and convenient by vacuuming and cleaning in one go without needing to be on the mains.
My first impression of the vacuum cleaner is that it looks very stylish, lightweight and wonderful that it is cordless of course! How many times have you found your vacuum cleaner cord caught under a door, tangled up or is simply not long enough? Cordless is the future!
Inside the box, it comes with six items which are the vacuum cleaner, water tank, two microfiber cloths, a charger, wall cable accessories and instructions. It took me under a minute to connect the handle onto the body together using a coin or you could use a screwdriver.
Philips has used lithium-ion technology for this vacuum cleaner which are durable and powerful rechargeable batteries with a short charging time. It takes at least 5.5 hours to fully charge each time and it will provide up to 40 minutes of running time. Of course, when you use the Max power setting, the battery won’t last that long but it is good enough for me to vacuum twice or more around our four bedroom house with half carpet floor and half laminate floor. It has definitely got a good operational battery life.
The charging point can be found at the back of the vacuum cleaner. It also provides wall cable accessories if you prefer to mount the cable onto the wall. I didn’t bother to do it as I prefer to have it in random places. The LED battery status indicator will tell you if it is fully charged (three blue bars), semi-charged (two blue bars) and battery low (one red bar).
The height of the handle is great and it is easy to manoeuvre around the house. I am disappointed that there is no soft touch handle as it is does feel quite plasticky and rough underneath the handle. Luckily the vacuum cleaner is relatively light and glides across the room so easily that I don’t need to put much pressure on my hand.
It comes with two power levels: the default power setting when turned on and maximum. I have tested the suction using glitter on tiles in my video review shown. The suction for ON is excellent! It managed to vacuum it all up. Undoubtedly, maximum would have no problems at all and would be even quicker. I am impressed with its suction ability. Also the vacuum noise for ON is not too loud and is much more bearable than other traditional vacuum cleaners.
I always love the idea of bagless as it will save you money on buying replacement bags. The usable capacity of the dust container is quite small but it is good enough to clean our house without having to empty it partway through. I dust my house very regularly, so I only empty it when it reaches the maximum line on the container. The dust container is located at the front of the vacuum cleaner. It is easy to remove from the unit (without getting the filter off) before emptying the dust into the bin.
The whole dust container including the washable foam filter with satin ribbon can be disassembled easily to wash. Simply remove all the parts and wash in cold water. Then allow the washable foam filter to dry for at least 24 hours before you place it back into the dust container. Philips suggests to wash the filter every month.
The brush roller in the vacuum cleaner head is easy to clean. Simply release the brush roller off the head and cut through any threads/hairs using the groove provided. The brush head is compact in size and easily to reach under gaps during vacuuming.
The vacuum cleaner weighs around 4.6 kg which is quite lightweight. It copes well on all surfaces in our home. It’s nice that there is not much suction resistance on carpets and I am able to manoeuvre easily, yet it still vacuums very well. This has convinced me that cordless vacuum cleaners are the way forward!
This also comes with another feature which is the mop. You can use it with or without the mop. The water tank takes 200 ml of water and is free flow. You can’t control the water flow level at all. So if you are not using it, it is best to turn it upside down. The instructions suggest to change the water every 12 hourly (if you use it regularly) and wash the water tank with water and vinegar every three months. I like the idea of mopping and vacuuming simultaneously but at times, the dust that is missed will become wet and will be difficult to vacuum back up. So I prefer to use this feature by itself after vacuuming. It is easy to attach/detach the water tank.
The microfiber cloths are very well made and clean very well. As you can’t control the water flow, the cloth gets very wet and so does the floor. If you keep going on the same area, the floor takes a while to dry off. Also it does run out of water very quickly.
Overall I am impressed with the powerful suction, its ability to manoeuvre around the house, good battery life, light weight, cordless design and compactness. You can buy it from Amazon.
I have also reviewed the Philips Anti Allergen PowerPro Duo cordless vacuum cleaner. Do check it out too!
