Creativity with Simbrix

2 April 2016 by Eileen

What is Simbrix?  Simbrix is a connective and constructive play craft that connect together and form strong holds.  It is essentially a cross between perler beads and LEGO.  It is even scatter-proof during play but easy to take apart and reuse whenever you want! It can be ironed too, just like Hama Beads so you can make your creations permanent. Or you can reuse it again!

It comes in 17 different colours to make amazing artwork inspired by the things you love.  They are made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) for optimised playing experience. They are 100% recyclable and do not contain harmful chemicals.

Given the Easter weekend, we made some Easter greetings with the Simbrix to begin with. Since it is the opening weekend of the Batman v Superman, we made the logos for that too. I then asked the kids for other ideas and they both decided to make Minecraft characters.  We all sat around our dining table and enjoyed putting the pieces together.

Here are the characters from Minecraft with a full size Steve with axe, Creeper, Sheep, Enderman, Pig and Chicken.

We also made an Easter egg with greetings.

It’s the Batman v Superman opening weekend so we decided to make these logos.

I like that this does not require a peg board and it doesn’t scatter everywhere if you accidentally drop them. This is definitely a plus point. After piecing my first design, I found that if we arranged the Simbrix in the same pattern, it is easier to connect the next row of Simbrix. I had to disassemble my daughter’s art works a couple of times before she understood the pattern.

I would definitely recommend them as it is challenging which is great for concentration, creativity and fine motor skills. This is not as frustrated as with Hama beads. These are locked and stay in place. It is easy to hold and design by all ages! They are really well made without any pieces that didn’t lock together. There are endless designs you could make with Simbrix. These look brilliant, definitely something my son would get a lot out of. I love the Minecraft characters you created.

These look so easy to use! The designs really are excellent – and so many. I think this is a toy that anyone can probably get to grips with pretty quickly 🙂
