Copper Clothing Review

15 April 2024 by Eileen

Do you know what copper-infused clothing is? I heard of this innovation and sustainable technology recently. However, it has been around in the UK for over 10 years. Copper Clothing is a company that came up with this clever idea of using copper in everyday clothing situations that benefit your health and well-being.

Copper is a safe, natural anti-bacterial material. If any bacteria, fungi or viruses land on the copper surface, the copper ions through electrostatic forces puncture the outer cell wall membrane or viral coat. This allows the copper ions to destroy the DNA and RNA inside the cell. It kills them, prevents them from replicating and prevents the spread of infections.

So how does this copper-infused technology work? Copper Clothing has infused the copper ions into the cotton indefinitely at high temperatures. This allows the materials to be flexible and pliable without any changes in comfort and feel. Accredited laboratory test results show that copper ions destroy more than 99% of bacteria, even after 50 washes.

I am pleased to have received the copper kitchen towel and the copper bath/gym towel for review. I hate smelly and wet towels, especially wet towels in the bathroom. I always hang our bathroom towels in different areas to allow the towels to air dry naturally. Now with these towels, I know that I am in safe hands as I know that these fibres of copper woven into the cotton towels will prevent bacteria from growing.

This kitchen towel design looks like any other check terry tea towel and the size is approximately the same (73cm x 48cm). The material is soft to the touch, absorbent, and fast drying. Best of all, it is self-cleansing, thanks to the infused copper materials. After days of using it, no odours are coming from the towel and it washes very well. It is nicely finished with no loose threads in sight, lightweight at GSM 280 (grams per square metre) and nicely finished overall. Although the design is a bit traditional/old-fashioned for my liking, I am very pleased with it.

Next, I have the bath towel, which measures 125cm by 70 cm and weighs GSM 500. It is thick and fluffy. It comes in grey, which is my favourite colour. After days of using it, there’s no scent of body odour or damp smell, it’s very absorbent and dries fast. It washes very well too. I enjoy using it as each use feels luxurious on my skin.

I can see that these towels are going to be very popular, especially in a household with teenagers. My son often leaves his dirty towel inside his badminton bag which will smell musty when he’s forgotten to take it out for washing. This towel is self-cleaning, eliminating 99.9% of bacteria, and is also absorbent, soft and long-lasting with a fresh scent which is ideal for him.

Both towels are to be washed at 30-40 degrees and tumble dried on low heat. It is not suitable for bleach or ironing. They are completely safe, chemical-free and environmentally friendly. I have used them and washed them. Both towels look durable with no changes to the colour or shape. The price is affordable and reasonable. I would definitely recommend Copper Clothing. Besides towels, they also produce socks, underwear, pet beds, gloves and many more.

Disclosure: We received the samples for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
