Get Your Garden Summer Ready

27 January 2023 by Eileen

No matter where you are in the world, your garden is a space for you to enjoy and have fun in. Whether it’s summer or winter, you are not wasting the space as long as you are spending time out there. It’s meant to be your own personal Oasis, and it’s a space that you can call your own in which to socialise or just to relax privately with no interference.

Get Your Garden Summer Ready

The only problem is that when you look out the window you can see that your garden isn’t quite up to scratch it. Perhaps you’re in the midst of winter and you are daydreaming about what you’d like for this summer? Whether you are adding aluminium pergolas, or you are choosing to replant the flowers around the edging, you have to consider what you want for your garden space and then upgrade it as much as possible. Here are some of the ways that you can fix up your garden and fall in love with it all over again.

  • Add some new flowers. There’s nothing quite like colour when it comes to the spring and summer months, and whether you decide to buy flowers and plant them in the garden, or you decide to go from scratch and plant all of the seeds, you can make the new flowers of your garden line up with the right blooming time so that in the summer months, you can enjoy them. Trimming back the old flowers to make way for new ones is a great way to also help the bee population to flourish. You should always double check which flowers and plants are native to your local area so that you can keep it in keeping with the local environment. You don’t want to plant anything that’s invasive in its species, because otherwise you could kill all the original plants in your garden. Adding new flowers is going to brighten up the space.

  • Speak to a landscaper. It’s nice to be able to upgrade your garden, but you can’t may not often be able to do it yourself. If time is tight or money is tight, speak to a landscaper and see whether or not they can help you on your budget. A professional will make the job a lot easier and much faster which means that you’ll be able to admire your refreshed garden space sooner than later. They’ll even help you to plan what your garden could look like, so if you don’t really have any great ideas, a landscaper definitely works well.

  • Add shelter. We talked about aluminium pergolas already, but adding shelter to your garden is really going to help. Not every single garden is able to shade from the sun or hide from the rain, so you need to create that shade yourself. Adding shelter with either a shed that you can sit inside or a gazebo of some sort will really help you to upgrade your garden space and it will help you to want to spend time out there which is kind of the point.

  • Add some colour. A great way to upgrade the garden is to add pops of colour all over it. Whether you do that with flowers as we mentioned earlier on, or you decide to use large bean bags in different colours for people to sit on, colour always makes a garden space look fantastic. It should stand out but it should also match your personality so make sure that you choose colours that you really enjoy.

  • Upgrade the furniture that you do have. Rather than buying brand new furniture, upgrade the furniture that you have by recovering it, repurposing it, or reshaping it entirely. Wooden furniture, for example, can be repainted into bold colours, and you could even send down an add twinkly light into the back of the wood.

  • Clear out the unwanted weeds. Weeds are inevitable in the garden and the best way to deal with them is just to keep on top of it. You won’t be able to always 100% stop weeds in and out of your garden, but you can continue to maintain your garden and avoid them entirely eventually.

  • Add something luxurious. From a new slide for the kids to an inground pool, there are plenty of ways you can add luxury to your garden. You could even have a hot tub installed with a pergola over the top so that you don’t get wet in the rain!
