Imagine yourself coming back home to a freshly vacuumed carpet/floor and not needing to worry if it runs out of battery? These days, robotic vacuums are better than ever. They don’t just help you to keep the floor clean, they can even mop at the same time! Definitely a game-changer! This Trifo Emma Pet is the one that does it all! What a great little vacuum cleaner!
There are two models in this Emma range. The Emma Pet that I have received comes with an interchangeable Pet Hair Extractor. It is a great tool if you have pets! No more cutting hair or fur via the brush.
Inside this kit, it comes with an Emma Home robot vacuum, charging base, power adapter, mop water tank, 10 mopping pads, pet hair extractor, two sticky pads and instructions. It does not require any installation. Simply put it on the charger and start charging. It takes roughly 3 hours to fully charge.
Now download the Trifo Home app on your smart device either by Google Play or Apple store and set it up. It only takes a couple of minutes. It needs your mobile number/email (they need to send you a security code) and WiFi password to create the account. If you are not sure how to do it, watch the Trifo Emma video here.
Once you log in, you can add the device and you are ready to go. This robot vacuum can connect to Alexa or Google. I have connected it to my Google using my Google Home app. It finds it within seconds and it is ready to control. I am super impressed with it. You can see how I get google to work via my video, just said, Okay Google, Turn on Emma, or Okay Google, Turn off Emma, or Okay Google, Dock Emma.
Besides that, you can schedule the cleaning, check the cleaning history, adjust the volume, increase the suction, set to clean, find your robot, update software, check battery life etc. via the app. The scheduled cleaning is a useful setting especially if you work regular hours and want it to clean on a reoccurring schedule. It does not work for my lifestyle as my children and Mabel love leaving items and cables on the floor, hence it is too dangerous.
I do love their smart cleaning program which shows you the area that has been cleaned and the area that has not been cleaned. Please see the image of the app, where Emma has cleaned around the furniture and other statistics.
In this video, I show you the individual items, how to remove the dustbin & filter, charging base, install the mop, fill the water tank and explain how it works. Check it out: https://youtu.be/gKBrqywxRQY
Emma feels very well-made and robust. The top lid of the Emma has a metallic matt surface, surrounded by black colour surfaces which makes it look very stylish. The On/Off and Home buttons are found on the top. The buttons are made from smooth and soft material. It is very comfortable to press.
Once you open the lid, you can find the dustbin, the light indicator for the WiFi and the Reset button. To remove the dustbin, simply press the button and it will pop out. Open the lid of the dustbin to empty it. This is a relatively large 600ml dustbin that allows users to clean the dustbin once every 4-7 days. I like how the dust managed to compress quite tightly in the dustbin.
There is a filter and a black sponge which can be removed and washed. Gently wash it in lukewarm water and dry it for at least 24 hours before reinserting. If you think the filter is torn etc., you can always buy replacements via Trifo’s website.
At the base of Emma, you can see there is one side brush, rolling brush and brush guard. If you have pets, like us, you can swap it for the pet hair extractor. It saves you from needing to cut fur and hair off the brush. To clean the brush, simply remove the brush guard, pop out the rolling brush and use the cleaning tool to remove any hairs or dust that gets trapped in it. In my video, you will be able to see how easy it is to remove and install it and use it with the pet hair extractor.
There are a total of six ultra sensitivity anti-drop sensors around Emma to keep it running smoothly. It prevents the vacuum from falling off the steps in 360 degrees. Most of our house is flat, hence I was unable to test it out.
This clever robot vacuum can identify the furniture and other obstacles. It will slow down the speed when approaching and the bumper will gently touch the surface and turn away. I love the systematic way Emma cleans, unlike other brands that move randomly from one side to another in different directions.
Emma also comes with a mopping mode! It comes with a 100ml water tank and 10 mopping pads. I prefer to use filtered tap water to fill the water tank with a jug rather than filling it with tap water straight from the tap. Filter water helps reduce limescale and makes fewer or no watermarks on my floor tiles. There are advantages and disadvantages to using the mop. It is not easy to fill the water tank and also the mopping pad might fold if the surfaces are not flat. Emma went onto the rug while mopping and the mopping pad got caught and folded. It didn’t dispense any water while it was on the rug. When Emma went back on the floor tiles, the mopping pad was folded and not working properly. Hence it is best to use the mop mode when all the surfaces are tiles/laminate floor with no obstacles. The water was well distributed across the mopping pad and it does not leave any puddles of water or noticeable watermark. It does make the floor slightly wet, hence it is best to inform anyone around the house if mopping is scheduled. Other than that, there are no complaints at all! The water tank lasts for 20 minutes and you would need to top up the water if you wish to do more mopping.
The water tank and the mopping pad is easy to attach onto the base of Emma. Just stick it on and see the magic works. They have also provided two rectangular black sticky pads for replacement if the current ones don’t work so well. In my video, I will also show you how I stuck it on the base.
Next, let’s take a look at the charging base. It is very well designed as you can either have the cable run out on the right or left. Also, it has enough space for you to tidy the rest of the cable.
It is important how you place the charging base. You have to give enough room and space for Emma to move around to find the base. Place it on a hard, level surface and against a wall that is not too far from the power socket. You have to leave the charger on throughout. It takes 180 minutes to charge and it can last for 110 minutes cleaning time. Smart Emma will calculate a faster route to return to and start charging based on its own location!
I am amazed at how easy it is to control Emma using the app or via Google Home. It gives me so much control and I am able to check on the health of my robot vacuum too. Also, it comes with great suction features (able to control the suction power via app) and it’s able to clean so much dirt! It can navigate around obstacles and works its way through the rooms very well and smoothly. I am very impressed with how well it performs and I would definitely recommend it.
