5 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

20 October 2021 by Eileen

Building your confidence from scratch isn’t easy. But when you improve your self-esteem, you’ll realise that those goals you set out for yourself are just in reach.

Sounds easy, right? Some changes are quick, easy fixes; however, others require a long-term commitment. But if you’re prepared to put in the effort, you’ll start to see massive changes in your life.

5 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

Are you in need of a confidence boost? Here are five tips for you to try!

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others

Social media works wonders at connecting us with others. But it does also mean that we now have far more opportunities to compare ourselves to those we see online.

This vastly alters our perspectives and the expectations we place on ourselves. When you feel this familiar negativity creeping in, take a moment to remind yourself of your own fantastic qualities. Each of us has a set of unique skills, and talents that others wish they had, so never forget that.

  1. Never stop learning

Seeking out higher education is an excellent way to boost your confidence. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and broaden your knowledge of the world.

Of course, not everyone is able to just pack up and return to university, and most of us have careers and families to consider. But with an online degree from Anglia Ruskin University, you can study on a schedule that suits your needs. A flexible distance learning institution means that you can further your career on a time scale fits your lifestyle and gain newfound confidence in your skills and abilities.

  1. Look After Your Body

Treating your body with the respect that it deserves is an excellent way to start seeing improvements in your self-esteem.

Make the effort to squeeze some light exercise into your daily routine. Research shows that physical activity improves your mood and lowers your stress levels.

  1. Think and Act Positive

It may sound like an old cliché, but positive thinking is the key to confidence.

Start each morning with a pep talk. You might feel silly at first, but it’s a good habit to get in to.

Draw your attention away from negativity and focus on the positives where you can. And if in doubt, just act the part! Pretend to be positive and your mindset will shortly follow.

  1. Consider Your Body Language

Our body language says a lot about who we are, usually without us even meaning to.

Start by siting up straight at your desk rather than hunching over and make the effort smile more when you’re talking to people.

When you develop an understanding of body language, you’ll be in a better position to use it to your advantage, and demonstrating confidence through this is a small change that will improve your overall confidence levels.

Confidence doesn’t come easily to many, and change can be hard to enact.

But with this guide, you can start to see an improvement in how you view yourself – and then the rest will follow.

How have you boosted your confidence? Tell us about it in the comments below!
