What is diamond painting? Recently, I came across the Craft-Ease website, which sells a huge range of gorgeous Paint by Number kits and Diamond Painting kits. It got me interested in their diamond painting kits range! I had not seen them before and neither had my friends that I spoke to. Diamond painting is a combination of cross-stitch and paint-by-numbers, by using an applicator to apply hundreds of shiny round coloured diamonds on an adhesive colour-coded canvas painting! The result is astonishing!
I had a browse on their website and I was so impressed with the variety of fabulous artwork they offered. So I decided to pick the ‘Floralie’ flower girl painting, created by Stephanie Bouw aka Sybile Art. She is a well-acclaimed painter and children’s book illustrator from Brussels, Belgium.
In my video, I will show you the items included inside the kit and also the finished product: https://youtu.be/oxZ6htL8-uo
The kit comes with a high-quality poured glue canvas along with a plastic sheet, 28 round colour diamonds plus two star AB diamonds, two applicators, gums, tray and tweezers. The gums are to apply to the applicator’s tips and end so that the diamond will stick on the applicator and transfer to the canvas. It comes with two types of applicator’s end: one to hold for three diamonds and one for six diamonds. Personally, I prefer to use the tweezers to apply. I find that sometimes the applicator does not stick well and also doing too many diamonds at the same time, does not allow the diamonds to position inline.
It is very easy to apply on the canvas and the symbol printings on the canvas help you identify to match the numbered packaging. To do this painting, you will need scissors and a container. The scissors are to cut the packaging but try not to cut too much of the packaging. I just snipped a small corner in the packaging. I also used a small rectangle container to safely store all the packets and prevent the diamonds from dropping out. The kit provided more than enough diamonds for each colour and I have plenty left, which I can use for my children’s artwork in the future etc.
This painting measures 40 cm by 50 cm and paints a beautiful girl surrounded by flowers. It took me at least six hours a day over six days to complete and the result is astonishing! There are so many different colour details on this painting and after ‘painting’ it, the painting does come to life with such vivid colour! I am well impressed. It is very therapeutic too.
The good news is that Craft-Ease ships internationally which take 3 – 7 weeks to arrive, depending on customs clearance, hence my readers from any corner of the world can own one! Buying this painting helps the artist too. Craft-Ease only works with independent artists, licensing their art and promoting them online. I would definitely recommend this Diamond Painting kit by Craft-Ease to anyone who wants to try new skills or is looking for a relaxing hobby!
