Why create children play area in the back garden with composite decking

14 May 2021 by Eileen

Play areas are spaces that are built or designed in such a way that children can safely play and express themselves. In your composite deck garden play area, children can play, jump, hide, leap, sing, discover and appreciate the beauty of nature and their physical environment. While creating a play area for your children in your garden, you must be wary of some important factors that include accessibility, play equipment, parental supervision and safety concerns. You are expected to create a play area that promotes the different types of play. This is because there is an important need for children to cultivate a strong desire to participate in physical activities outdoors.

Why should every garden have a children’s play area?

It is highly essential to create a play area in every garden for two important reasons. First of all, a garden play area facilitates most of the developmental tasks that every child should accomplish. These tasks are not limited to risk-taking, motor development, exploration and a basic grasp of knowledge; they are best acquired in the garden play area. Furthermore, our society is slowly but assuredly depriving children of outdoor physical activities and play through heavy usage of television, computer, hand-held games and smartphones, coupled with stress and exhausted parents, dangerous streets and neighbourhoods and inadequate school recess. Hence, less time for outdoor play.

Here are some importance of children play area:

  • A garden play area is needed for the development of motor skills and cardio-respiratory fitness in children. Regular physical activities in play areas will tackle the growing issue of obesity in children, which is increasingly becoming a problem in the United Kingdom.
  • Playing outside is tied to quality childhood experience. Most experts agree that a pleasant and complete childhood will adequately prepare children for adulthood. As a result, every child needs to experience regular play in garden play areas. They need to be allowed to experiment and discover their physical environments. Some of our fondest childhood memories were activities that took place outdoors. Why should we rob our children of this fun experience?
  • The Garden play area is a great source of information about the physical environment. What is the process of plant growth? Must all butterflies fly? How do ants feed? Why is mud filled with dirt? What does nectar taste like? Children gain a wealth of basic knowledge from outdoor play in algebra, geography, zoology, metrology, and building. Children are highly impressionable at this stage of development, and knowledge learnt outdoors would continue to remain with them.

Why create a children’s play area with composite decking?

Every family wants to know the safest decking option for a child-friendly garden. The fact remains that composite decking is the safest and most suitable deck for child play areas. Many children have wood allergies, producing symptoms similar to contact dermatitis, but you wouldn’t have to worry about these issues with composite decking.

Wood decking will eventually develop splinters, and a child may get injured due to these tiny thorns or pieces of wood. Composite decking, on the other hands, is risk-free since it is very strong and extremely durable. Even if your child stumbles or tumbles over it, you won’t see any damage. Since composite decking is weather-resistant and can withstand varying weather conditions, you wouldn’t have any worries about deteriorating or potentially hazardous decking.

In addition, most composite decks have anti-slip features. This means your child is less likely to slip and fall off the decking floor. This makes composite decks suitable for areas with inclement weather conditions or homes with swimming pool facilities.

It is expected that you attach railings or fence to the dedicated kid play area to enable your kids to have fun unsupervised.

In conclusion, the most suitable decking option for your garden play area is composite decking.
