Practical Flooring Solutions for Busy Families

16 October 2019 by Eileen

If you have a busy household full of light and laughter, you need to make sure you pick the right kind of flooring. There are many different types of flooring out there and some of them might not be the best for your situation. Busy households require a lot of work and you have to make sure that you are able to stay on top of cleanliness and other issues. Browse through some great flooring solutions here and then keep reading to find out the one we think is the best.

Practical Flooring Solutions for Busy Families

The Issue

The problem with busy families is that there can be many things happening all at once. Even if you feel like you are never at home because you are busy with activities, you would be surprised to know about how much time you do actually spend there.

With this comes the issue of trying to keep the house clean. You want to make sure that no dirt or mud can get dragged in. You also want to make sure that stains are not going to cause too much of an issue; even if they are left instead of being cleaned up.

Carpets?

Carpets are good in cold houses as they can help to retain heat while also being soft underfoot. They are one of the most popular flooring options for a reason. However, a busier household might not get on with carpets. If you have children who do a lot of sports activities, they might end up bring dirt, sweat, and germs in. What’s more, carpets can be difficult to dry out in the event of a flood or a spill.

Real Wood Floors?

A real wood floor can add some serious prestige to a home. If you are very house-proud, you might love the effect a real wood floor can give. However, in a busy household with pets and young children, a real wood floor might not be the best option. It could get scratched easily and there are some chances that any spillages might not be noticed, potentially causing the wood to warp. Real wood is very nice but its high maintenance needs make it unpractical for busy families.

Laminate?

Laminate Flooring is a brilliant option for those who want a real wood effect at an affordable price. It is an extremely durable floor which can look elegant in several different rooms of your home. Though it can also warp when exposed to too much water, it is possible to find waterproof laminate. The style and practicality of laminate flooring is unmatched. If you are on the hunt for the best floors for your family, this might be a very credible option.

Overall, you need to assess what type of floor is going to be best for your family. You might be able to get away with carpets if you know that they are neat and will take care of them. However, there are so many advantages to laminate flooring that you should give this flooring type a serious consideration.
