The Bulls Head Shenstone Review

2 August 2019 by Eileen

After a splendid refurbishment, The Bulls Head Shenstone is re-open for business from 9am for brunch, with food served all day until 10pm every day! This delightful country pub is located in the small village of Shenstone, near Lichfield, situated next to Birmingham Road since the 17th century. There is plenty of car parking at the side of the pub.

This is the local pub that I usually hang out with my daughter with a bowl of chips and a pot of tea after school. About two months ago, they were closed for refurbishment. I am so pleased that they finally refurbished the interior and exterior of the pub as it was a bit drab and did need updating. The main door used to be next to a disabled toilet and it was a small entrance via the tired-looking decking. Now they have repositioned the main entrance and turned it into a grand well-lit entrance. They also managed to brighten the whole place by getting rid of those massive big trees and the interior wooden wall divisions. The place is a whole lot more welcoming and filled with vintage-looking furniture and decoration. There is plenty of seating to accommodate a variety of groups of people. I wish I could take have taken photos of the place to show you what I mean but it was already filled with a lot of customers!

Anyway, we were invited to try their Brunch menu and was pampered with a lot of choices! There are so many dishes that I wish I could have ordered one each! The Bulls Head Shenstone is part of the Vintage Inn group but their menu is totally different from the rest of the pubs. You can be assured that the choices of their food and drinks have gone above and beyond. I’m sure you will love it! I was very impressed with the nice selection of menu options.

For our Brunch choice, Mr K went for the Egg Royale with salmon, Ms C had the Smashed Avocado Sour-dough whilst I opted for a simple full English breakfast! All the dishes were well presented and it makes you want to eat more! I loved the vibrant colour food they had served. They were all so appetising and tasty! Needless to say, the food they served was great quality and I hope it will stay the same for the lunch and dinner menu! It didn’t take us long to polish the whole plate clean!

Ms C didn’t like the sourdough bread but this is due to her not having it before. So I swapped hers with my white bread instead. The avocado and beetroot purees work very well together.

We had a lovely time there and would recommend their brunch to everyone. I am sure their fresh and vibrant dishes won’t disappoint.

Disclosure: We have received complimented food from the pub. However, they have not paid me for this review, and they do not exercise any editorial control over my review or anything else on this site.
