It is the camping season but have you got everything you need? If you have followed our blog recently, you may have read that we did a garden family sleepover in our new house. It is a good experience to start our children on as they have not done camping before. Camping from home is a luxury to have as we can take advantage of the comfort of home facilities!
If this is your first time camping or you are thinking of trying camping with your children, why not start from home. Get yourself and your children use to sleeping in a sleeping bag and building your tents before moving on to cooking your own food!
Both our children had not done a proper camping experience before but we did glamping at Chessington World of Adventure three years ago. Everything was provided and each of us slept in a very comfy bed! Camping is very different to glamping! Anyway, last month we did this Wild Night Out event, where we were provided with good quality tents and had a good night’s sleep! We did place down plenty of thick play foams on the ground and a groundsheet before placing the tents. It was a great combination as the play foam provided a thick layer of cushioning. If you have those play foams handy, it is worth packing them with you if you can!
It was a great experience as we encountered very warm and cold weather in a space of 12 hours. Initially, we didn’t need the sleeping bags to cover ourselves like a mummy. However, the temperature can drop massively during the night! Once you and your children are comfortable with camping, then book yourself to family-friendly festivals and experience the outdoor fun!
If you need help packing for camping, why not check out Millets’ Camping Must Haves Checklist for first-timers. Good luck and hope you all have fun!
