Magformers Creator Set Review

16 November 2018 by Eileen

Magformers have been around since 2001 and they are recognised globally as a leader in STEM toys and educational products, with learning and 3D brain development through play at its core. This year, this multiple award-winning brand was officially approved by STEM.org.

Magformers Creator Set Review

We were thrilled to receive this Creator set, which consists of 60 magnetic pieces, including six colourful different geometric shapes (square, rectangle, rhombus, hexagon, equilateral and isosceles triangles). This box also provides six play sheets of creative construction models: Roll, Pull Up, Fold, Combine, Transform and Wall. It helps to make it easier for children to follow and to learn the 2D to 3D. It is suitable for aged three and above.

Mr K and Mr C love construction sets and this Magformers set is right their street. The magnetic pieces are BPA Free. Each piece contains strong magnets and all magnets are properly encapsulated in strong plastic which prevents their extraction and possible swallowing. This magnetic element allows children to make a range of 2D and 3D shapes and vehicles. We love the colourful pieces and they are easy to handle, but at the same time, it can get quite messy with all the pieces stuck together!

Mr K loves free play and loves creating his own models, whilst Ms C prefers to follow the play sheets for ideas. Should you choose to follow the play sheets, it will tell you how many pieces are required for each item and give you a picture to work to. This certainly helps get children, especially Ms C, started with the whole concept of Magformers.

We all enjoy playing with this set. It is quite expensive to buy but the magnetic pieces are very durable and should last for a long time. It helps children to recognise different shapes and colours, develop fine motor skills through model building and get them to explore magnets and forces. It also allows children to design and build structures, evaluate designs and use and understand mechanical systems. I would definitely recommend this set! Magformers have a wide range of amazing sets, do check them out on https://magformers.co.uk/. It is available to buy from good toy retailers, online and Amazon.  Also check out our Instagram video.

Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
