PayDay Game Review

3 March 2018 by Eileen Leave a Comment

PayDay is an iconic game of handling finances, made by the makers of Monopoly from Hasbro Gaming. This family board game is suitable for aged eight and above, played with two to four players.

PayDay comes at the end of the month, and to make it there without going broke, you will have to manage your money wisely! In this game, you have to find bargains and sell them for a profit! You can also take out loans if you have to and watch out for all those bills!

This game comes with a 31 days calendar game board! We all love the design of this game board as it looks so unique! You get to have a Bargain, taking a top Event card, play the lottery and even have mail to open! Setting up the game is pretty straightforward. Just like monopoly, you get a stack of money – £800 to start the game. Separate and shuffle the Mail, Bargain and Event card decks. Place each deck face down where all players can reach them. Place one Bargain card under Yard Sale space on the board. Then each player is given a Bargain card for free before the game starts!

Choose how many months you will play. We chose to play a two-month game with four players and it took just under an hour to complete the game. I think two months is just the right amount for four players, but feel free to vary it for you.

For the first time playing, we had to keep referring back to the instructions to check for the rules. It isn’t too complicated and in fact, it is very fun to play! I love those ‘hidden’ message Event cards! You never know what might happen! Sometimes players can use their cards to prevent you from earning a profit or they may give you a helping hand!

We had so much fun playing this and would definitely recommend it. The player with the most cash wins! We all find it very refreshing and interesting to play together. This is available to buy from good toy retailers, online and Amazon.
